It initially felt a bit off, but I was curious to hear who’d be on the other end. An Indian gentleman picked up and immediately asked for my name and some personal details. I replied that I wasn’t comfortable disclosing that information over the phone, and he promptly hung up. Definitely a worrying scam!

They rang me twice within just a couple of days. After I blocked the first number, they tried again using a different one. I didn’t pick up either time and ended up blocking the second number as well. It’s really upsetting, especially for someone older like me.

I received a rather alarming call from this number earlier today, claiming they were attempting to reach us regarding a supposed lawsuit filed against us. They stated they were calling on behalf of HMRC. The call had a robotic voice, a rather polished English lady to be precise. At the conclusion of the message, I was prompted to press 1 to speak to a so-called case worker, but I opted to ignore it. I urge everyone to be cautious as this could very well be a scam; I'm fairly confident that HMRC would communicate such matters through a letter rather than a phone call.

Received a rather dubious call today from someone purporting to be from HMRC, alleging they were initiating legal action against me. Sensing it was a complete con, yet intrigued that it was from a UK mobile number, I resolved to take the call. I promptly inquired of the gentleman, who had an accent that seemed East Asian, if he could provide any verification that he was indeed representing HMRC. His response? "Absolutely, I can prove it in one word - f*** off!" Ironically, that’s actually two words!
