Got a ring from this number tonight but our BT Call Blocker stopped it since it wasn’t saved in our contacts. They didn’t bother to identify themselves, so we couldn’t choose to pick up, and they didn’t leave any voicemail either, which just makes it sound dodgy to us. On Friday the 18th of August 2023, I got a ring from a lady speaking with a South Asian accent claiming to be from Sky maintenance. I get loads of these scam calls, so this time I thought I’d mess around a bit. I pretended she was ringing from the corner shop and began rattling off a list of groceries. I’m just a forgetful old pensioner, after all. She hung up almost straight away. Maybe that’ll stop them bothering me now!

Like others have said, it was a guy with an Asian accent saying my insurance policy had expired. I asked for the policy number, even though I knew I didn't have one, and he said the last four numbers were 5840. Then I tried to find out when I supposedly took out the policy, and straight away, he just ended the call on me.

Got a call once after finishing work, from someone claiming there was a Sky maintenance fee to sort out. They said since I paid last year, I was eligible for a discount if I renewed for another year. When I went to pay, something felt off - they never asked for my ID and insisted the payment be a one-time deal. I asked them to confirm my name and postcode on their system, but they couldn’t give me the right details. Plus, they wouldn’t prove they were really from Sky. Definitely a scam, and I nearly got caught out.

I’m pretty sure this is one of those automated calls. I keep my answerphone on, and it clearly says we don’t pick up if the number’s not recognised, so if it’s really important they should leave a message. But with calls like these, they never bother leaving a number back.
