Just want to flag this Omicron Track and Trace scam going around. Lucky for me, I didn’t click on any weird links. Thankfully, I also don’t know anyone who's caught Covid yet.

I clicked the link and ended up on some NGINX Sample Server page, no sign of anything about the NHS at all. Tried going onto the NHS official site but all I got was a message saying the service was unavailable. Apparently, since 24th Feb 2022, NHS Test and Trace stopped tracking contacts of folks testing positive for COVID-19. Bit confusing really!

Got a call claiming to be from NHS Track and Trace saying I’d been near someone who tested positive and needed to book a PCR test through a link they sent. The link seemed pretty official at first glance, but things felt off when they wanted £1.28 for postage of the test kit. I didn’t fancy handing over my personal or bank info so I wisely ignored it, reported the number to 7726 and then deleted the message. Felt dodgy from the start!

I got a message saying I’d been near someone who tested positive for COVID and that I should arrange a PCR test. It wasn’t from the NHS, so I could tell straight away it was dodgy. Didn’t bother clicking the link, but it looked like they were trying to get you to pay for a PCR test online, when they’re actually free. Plus, you only need to book a PCR if your lateral flow test came back positive, so that just adds to the suspicion. Definitely a scam in my eyes.
