Got loads of robo calls about a govt scheme for windows. Tried ending the call, let it run, pressed 9 to get off the list, nothing worked. Calls kept coming, sometimes like half an hour later. Finally pressed 5 to talk to a person and they rang back from this number. Asked them to stop calling and take me off their list, they said yes. But within a week, another call came through. Reported it to the ICO and now I’m getting silent calls from a different number connected to green deals.

I received a call today from a company touting financial options for window replacements. This was rather surprising given that they had contacted me just yesterday, and I made it clear then that I wasn’t interested. I also informed them about my registration with the Telephone Preference Service. The lady on the line promised that there would be no further calls! To top it all off, she claimed I had requested the call through some kind of automated feedback system, which is absolutely not the case.

I ignored the call, and it was cut off as soon as my answerphone kicked in. Using an answerphone really helps dodge these annoying calls. Just wait for it to start recording, if it's a spam caller they usually hang up, hopefully learning that you won't pick up. If it’s an important call, they’ll leave a message. If you know who it might be, you can always grab the phone while the message is playing. I've found this method works well, and I've had fewer pest calls since I began doing this.

Got a call from someone abroad asking for Mr ##### - that’s my dad's last name, but he passed away back in 1968, way before we even had a phone. I just left the handset down and didn’t answer. Constant annoying calls from a dodgy company with no values or conscience. Best thing to do is not answer or speak to them, just cut off and block the number through your mobile operator. If you’re signed up to TPS, make sure you report it.

From what I gathered on Ofcom's list, numbers beginning with 07513 1xxxxx were assigned to Telefonica UK Limited for mobiles way back on 02/02/2007. Thing is, that’s pretty ancient info by now. The number might have been switched to a different network, or maybe recycled and ended up with Telefonica again. I really dunno how to find out the exact details. Maybe try ringing the ICO spam hotline? Could be worth a shot.

Is there a way to find out which phone provider gave out this number (like BT, Vodafone, EE and so on)? If that info was made public, we could then use Companies House to track down the business behind it, including the directors, their office location, and even their home addresses. After that, anyone who’s been bothered by these calls could either report them properly or maybe even confront them in person.

Got a call from a Scottish bloke asking if this was Mr #########. I asked him to give me his company name and full address, but we just went round in circles like 20 times. Eventually, he refused to provide any info, so I said I was ending the call. Then he rang me back from a withheld number and started being rude, swearing and saying the call was costing me and he’d keep calling. It’s pretty sad and frustrating, but this sort of behaviour really ought to be dealt with by the law.

Although I've disregarded quite a few, I've still picked up at least five conversations. Most of the callers have had a Scottish accent. Despite my constant requests to have my number removed from their list, I'm consistently met with responses like, "I’m not in control of the database," and "I’m just an employee here." During my last exchange, I actually mentioned that their relentless calling felt like harassment, only for the woman to retort, "No need to take it out on me," before promptly disconnecting. Honestly, it must be a dreadful experience for those who are solitary at home, fielding endless calls like this. Something really needs to be done about it!

Got a call from a bloke with a Scottish accent claiming he was from Green Deal. Told him the scheme ended ages ago but he kept insisting he was legit and based in Glasgow. Asked him for the company’s official address, and he said he couldn’t share it over the phone but could send it by post. (Like I’m gonna give him my address? No chance!) Told him he was breaking the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 and he hung up. Definitely a scam, but glad I wasted a bit of his time.
