I received a text message today from the number 07501465011, claiming that I could borrow up to £750, which they said would be deposited directly into my account. They mentioned something about "wepay2day." I’m a bit puzzled about how they got hold of my number and why Vodaphone hasn't flagged this as suspicious. Quite the mystery!

Received the same text message earlier today and thought I’d give them a ring to figure out how they got hold of our number, but no one picked up. Quite mysterious, isn’t it?

I received the same text message, and when we tried ringing them, there was no answer. It's baffling how they managed to have our exact names and contact numbers, as they're all the same on our phone and the web. What on earth is going on?

Make sure to sign up your number with the Telephone Preference Service; it's against the law for them to reach out to you unless you've explicitly agreed to be part of a certain mailing list. So, do be cautious about the kinds of services you engage with, the details you share, and the boxes you choose to tick or leave unticked!

Same type of text, but different number: 44 7501 465010. The website lists the registrant's address as 82 Mansel Street, Swansea, West Glamorgan, SA1 5TY, UK.

Earlier today, we received a text message claiming we could borrow up to £750 credited directly to our account. It directed us to www.wepay2day.co. We're quite curious to find out how they got hold of our contact number.

Absolutely, we received the very same text urging us to call to get back some bank fees. It's really frustrating having our number out there for strangers to access.

Received a call on our home landline that we ignored, and then later on our O2 mobile too, which we also let ring out. It’s puzzling who could possibly be in possession of both our numbers!

Absolutely, received the same text message on our O2 phone earlier today. I'm really hoping there's a method to prevent calls or messages from such numbers!

I’ve received precisely the same text message, and we're both using O2 mobile. Could this be linked to our network?

Who on earth was that? Some folks called us, said hello, then just hung up without a word. Quite peculiar if you ask me!

It seems that these folks employ a technique known as "number ranging." Essentially, they monitor the status of various phone numbers to find out which ones are currently active. Once they've identified a live one, they try calling numbers that are roughly 500 digits apart until they hit a dead line. Typically, they’ll inquire, "When does your contract end?" and voilà, they end up compiling a vast list of live mobile numbers, particularly targeting customers on networks like Orange and O2. It's quite the operation!

I received a text earlier on from the number 07501 465009 claiming: “Free message. You can borrow up to £750 paid into your account today. Visit w.wepay2day.co. United Kingdom, or to opt out, text 'O'. We would never disclose our phone number and recommend just blocking it, as any response would validate that our number is active.”

We've experienced something similar. I'm with T-Mobile, and it's become quite the nuisance with all these odd messages landing in our inbox. Not to mention the barrage of those automated voice recordings on our landline, always spouting off about some so-called free offer or other nonsense. It's starting to get rather tiresome!

Received the same message, but it was from 07501222297. I hardly ever use my mobile, which is on O2. Recently, I've been on some vehicle insurance comparison websites and, rather foolishly, shared my actual mobile number. We're intending to just disregard the message altogether. Has anyone else received something similar in the past few weeks? Would be great to hear what you did about it!

Received a text from this number regarding some sort of reimbursement for bank fees. It appears someone assumes we're gullible enough to give them a ring at the contact they've provided. Quite baffling, really!

I’ve texted them a total of four times to opt-out, but they keep pestering me. I just called them and gave them a piece of my mind, mentioning the Information Commissioner’s Office if they don’t knock it off!
