Just got a call from a scammer right after they rang someone else pretending to be from Amazon. I wasn’t having any of it, told them straight what a load of rubbish they were, and blocked the number. This time it was just a silent call that dropped, so looks like another one of their rubbish attempts failed. Honestly, I hope these kinds of people get what they deserve.

I called him out for being a scammer, told him companies don’t call from mobiles. He had the nerve to ask if I knew the number was from Virgin and if I owed money to his firm. I’ve never heard of them before. His accent was so thick I could barely make out what he was saying. After a load of swear words he used, I just hung up. Since then, I’ve had calls for about two weeks from numbers that look almost the same, all saying I haven’t paid my car insurance. Thing is, I don’t even have a car, never mind driving or having insurance!

Really weird call from a mobile number, some guy with a foreign accent claiming he worked for Public Health. This guy kept ringing me, claiming he was with AVIVA Life, trying to get details about my life insurance so I’d supposedly avoid tax for my family if anything happened. Problem is, I don’t even have a policy with them. When I asked him to send me something in writing, he called me ‘disrespectful’ and got really rude, so I gave it right back to him before ending the call. I got a call from someone saying they were with the public health office, but they used my previous last name. When I mentioned, "I don’t think you’re calling from a mobile," the person just replied, "That's alright madam, if you're not comfortable," and then they ended the call.

Got a second call from someone saying they were with Aviva. They said they needed to go over my policy and that they'd connect me to someone who could explain the best choices for me and all that. I told them to just post me the info if they wanted me to look at anything. The guy said that’s not how it works, but I told him I’m not doing deals over the phone and if that’s a problem, I might just cancel my policy. Then I hung up. Pretty certain he wasn’t actually from Aviva anyway.

They pretended to be from well-known debt help charities like Citizens Advice or StepChange, trying to scam people struggling with debt. They wanted me to take out an IVA and even advised me to be dishonest with my creditors to make it happen.
