Like others have mentioned, this was definitely a scam. The guy, who introduced himself as Alex, had a thick Indian accent and sounded like he was calling from some kind of call centre. He kept talking about a Health plan or something. I just ended the call straight away.

I didn’t pick up because I didn’t know who it was and thought if it was something important, they’d leave a voicemail - which they never do. So, I ended up blocking them. Somebody rang saying they were from Alpha Insolvency and mentioned UK Money Advice, saying they were connected to the Government. The accent was really hard to understand, but they did have my name and number and said a creditor had sent them. They wanted to know about my finances, which there’s no way I’m sharing with some random person on the phone. Blocked them straight away!

Got a call from someone claiming to be the credit investigation dept, sounded like a total con so I just laughed and they started yelling at me, so I ended the call. I saved the number and sure enough, another call came through, this time from a woman. There was a long silence before she spoke, said she was with communications solutions and wanted to upgrade my contract. I told her I’ve got two years left on mine, and she then shouted at me to be quiet and listen. I recorded both calls and sent them to the police. That number’s blocked now, but they keep ringing from different mobiles.

Got a call from someone asking directly for a fake account, named it exactly. My coworker wasn’t on the ball and said they weren’t here, then asked how they could assist, and the caller just ended the call. The accent was British, so that rules out an offshore scam. Did some snooping around and it looks like it ties in with a different investigation we’ve got going on. Would be best to block that number.
