I got a call with a weird long silence and then some beeping before the line just went dead. When I rang back, I heard an American dial tone. Next thing, I got another call from someone named Dave, who said he was calling from India. He somehow already knew my name and was pushing to “consolidate loans”. When I asked who he was, he wouldn’t give a proper answer and hung up straight away. Definitely not a legit call.

Picked up the phone, and all I could hear was a busy call centre noise in the background. After a bit of awkward silence, I told them their mum’s a proper idiot, then they cut me off. Got a call from someone saying they were with the British Medical Association wanting to update my info. When I asked why the BMA would be ringing me for this, the person said it was for my protection. Then I asked why the call was coming from a mobile number if it was official. The guy said it was a standard practice and all calls are sent out like that. I pressed further about why the BMA needed to update my details under the guise of safety, and mentioned I work for the NHS. Right after that, the caller just hung up on me.

Someone calling saying they’re from the housing repairs team, but their Indian accent was really strong and hard to understand.

A lady with a really thick Asian accent rang and asked for me using my full name. When I said I wasn’t the person she was after, she just ended the call. My phone flagged the call as “maybe spam,” and this is the second call like this I’ve had in two days - different number this time, but the last one was some woman asking about my Covid vaccine and life insurance, so I kind of guessed what was coming. I really wanna find out how they got hold of my name and number.

There’s a bunch of scammers out there, usually linked to some small local police crew, who try to drain your energy. These few muppets haven’t really moved on from needing their mum and dad’s support but are out here trying to pinch from other people’s kids and even your real family and mates.
Make sure you stick close to the folks who appreciate you and your vibe, not the ones looking to nick it from you!

Its been nonstop for more than half a year now. I get a new phone number every single day, always from some call centre in Pakistan. Most of the time they’re quite rude, shouting their nonsense about needing money or else the FBI will come to get me, or pretending to be from the Medical Council and all that. The funny thing is, I’m based in England, so I’ve no idea why they’re always talking about the FBI 😂 Anyway, these calls are proper harassment and quite scary. Yet somehow, they still keep coming through.

Got a call from this number recently. A guy with an Indian accent said his name was Sam and claimed he was ringing from Legal and General. He already knew my name and wanted to discuss life insurance. I told him I wasn’t happy chatting about that over a mobile call and that I’d get in touch with my provider myself. He then tried to explain that Legal and General don’t use landline numbers. When I asked for his last name, he questioned why I needed his personal details. That’s when I thanked him and ended the call!
