Got a message from some jenniferkate332 gmail about a bike I put up on gumtree just last night around 10pm. Thing is, gumtree said no one had seen the ad yet, so I felt a bit iffy. Decided to look up their number 7451 428241 and found this thread. Proper glad I did, might’ve been dodgy. Blocked them straight away.

Someone text me from this number about the pram I put on Gumtree. They wanted me to email them to sort out more details, which felt a bit off. So I looked up the email [email protected][###] and found loads of warnings. Really glad I double checked! Just don’t bother replying and block the number straight away! Never share your PayPal info with randoms like this, it’s a scam for sure!

Oh man, I almost got caught out earlier. I got an email from [email protected][###] about a suite I’m selling on Gumtree. They asked for a PayPal invoice and paperwork upon collection as proof, but after getting the email, I decided to turn down their offer. The email had some dodgy grammar, so I figured it was a close call. I’m guessing they would’ve said their courier never collected the item and then tried to reverse the payment.

I had a similiar experience with this number, it just felt suspicious right away. I told them i'd only do cash on collection. The 3 emails I got all had almost the exact same wording, especially the bit about "sending a courier agent" which seemed way too specific for 3 different people. I also flagged the messages to Gumtree under "phishing" since it’s an option now on gmail. Doing this helps block any more emails like that straight away. They gave the phone number above and the email [email protected][###]. They insisted I send £300 via Western Union before they'd release any PayPal money. Definitely steer clear and make sure you report it.

Got a message from this number 07451227509 about some disabled story or something. Foolishly, I ended up sharing my PayPal info and address. Yeah, don’t bother judging me, I’m already beating myself up over it. Contacted my bank straight away and closed my PayPal. Honestly, learn from my mistake and don’t be a total numpty like I was.

Early this morning, I got a message from 07451227509 after I put up my motorbike on Gumtree. They asked if it was still for sale and told me to contact jessicalauren7681(AT)gmail[###]. Obviously, I ignored it. I’m usually quite wary about these things, but the missing "@" sign made me even more doubtful. Looked up jessicalauren7681 on Google, and yep, it’s a scam. These scammers really are all over the place.

This morning, someone calling themselves Jessica Lauren rang from 077418325028 and said exactly the same things as another comment I saw here. She told me to consider my Gumtree listing sold and said she could only pay through PayPal, buying it for her disabled son. She asked me to email her, which I did, but now I'm worried I might’ve shared enough details for them to cause trouble?? I was careful not to give out my home address though.

Got a message just after 7 this morning from +44 7418 325028 asking me to get in touch via email about the table and chairs I’ve got on Gumtree. The lady basically wrote the same thing as loads of others, telling me to mark it as sold, take down the ad, said it’s for her son but she can’t see the items herself cos she’s deaf and uses a wheelchair, then mentioned a courier would come to collect it and wanted to pay through PayPal. I decided to look up her email address since something felt off, and I’m really glad I did.

I’ve had exactly the same experience as others here. I was selling something on Gumtree and got a message from the same phone number and email, with the same story about being disabled and asking for my Paypal info. When I asked how the item should be packed for the courier, their reply was full of bad English. That raised a red flag, so I looked it up on Google and found this site.

Definitely a con artist. I blocked the number and email. This year I've had three scams with bikes advertised on Gumtree, two just this week for the same model. I’ve also been targeted with the disabled person story and the oil rig worker excuse. It’s all a ploy to get your bank info or more often your PayPal details. Bear in mind, even if they 'pay', which is why you wouldn’t send the item otherwise, once they've got the bike, they can reverse the payment through PayPal if they move fast. They usually target pricey stuff, which isn’t that shocking, really.
