Is this one of those dodgy energy schemes from the government trying to scam people? Seems a bit off to me.

Had a very similar call not long ago from some bloke who kept pressing me, but no matter how many times I asked, he wouldn’t clearly say what company he was from. He kept going on about checking homes to fix issues caused by past governments not properly regulating building stuff. I told him that surely wouldn’t affect a place built back in 1880, but he just carried on like it didn’t matter. I reckon this sort of pushiness could really fool people who aren’t as sceptical as me.

Got a call from someone claiming it was some government programme and that I should have got a letter about it. I hadn’t received anything so I said I wasn’t interested. Then they got really snappy and said, “What don’t you want, madam?” Didn’t hang about after that, just ended the call and blocked the number straight away.

Got a call from a bloke who said his name was John - he was pretty loud, so didn’t quite catch his last name - claimed to be from some ‘energy saving’ company... I said no thanks pretty politely, but then told him outright he was a scammer. Told him to bugger off, saying it was an unsolicited call. That didn’t go down well, he got proper nasty and started shouting all sorts of abuse at me. Didn’t fancy dealing with that so I just hung up. Blocked the number straight away.

Got a call from someone saying they were from Energy Conservation, saying they needed to do a re inspection to check if I could get a grant for home upgrades. After they looked around, they gave me some sort of “grant application number”. He said they’d sent info already but promised a letter too - they had my name, phone and address but didn’t ask for my email, which felt odd. If this “grant” is real, sounds like a dodgy setup just to get money from me. Told the bloke no straight away and was shocked he kept pushing. Classic scam if you ask me.

Got a call from a woman who was really rude, she already knew my name and where I live. She kept asking for my husband even though he passed away years ago and never even lived here. She ended up shouting at me, arguing, and even called me some terrible names. Said she was with some company tied to the green energy scheme. Then she just slammed the phone down on me. Totally shocking behaviour.

So this woman rings up, really nasty, asking to talk to one of my parents who have passed away. I told her quite sharply that they were no longer alive. Then she just hangs up, only to ring back and start shouting insults at me. It was pretty upsetting overall.

Got a call about some loft insulation and cavity walls, figured it was probably a scam so I just blocked the number.

Got a call from some company, think it was called Advanced Home Solutions or something alike. They seemed to already have my name and address - how on earth do they find that out? They wanted to send a person to my house to check if the insulation met current standards and promised a report with suggestions, no pressure. Asked me who else lived with me, which felt way too personal. Told them thanks but no thanks and ended the call straight away.

ANNOYING TELEMARKETER - HONESTLY, THESE CALLS DRIVE ME MAD! THEY NEED TO BE STOPPED FROM WASTING EVERYONE’S TIME AND USING THE PHONE TO BOTHER FOLKS. TARGETING ELDERLY OR SICK PEOPLE SHOULD BE ILLEGAL. IF ANYONE TRIES TO COME CLOSE TO MY HOME, WHETHER THEY HAVE A PERMIT OR NOT, MY DOGS WILL HAVE A WORD WITH THEM FIRST, AND IF THAT DOESN’T WORK, I’LL MAKE SURE THEY LEARN A PAINFUL LESSON! THEN, THEIR BITS WILL END UP IN THE FIRE!

Someone phoned us about insulation. My hubby, who’s autistic and trusts people too easily, gave me the phone straight away. I told the caller, who was clearly just reading off a script, that we weren’t interested at the moment and quickly ended the call. A real business wouldn’t just hang up like that, would they?
