Sounds like a scam to me - I’m actually waiting on a refund from HMRC, and that .0744 number looks like one of them premium rate ones.

I got a call at 9.36 this morning from an automated voice telling me to press 1 to speak to someone. After I pressed it, an Indian bloke picked up but his English was hard to understand, and there were loads of other noises in the background which made it even trickier. I asked him to slow down but I still couldn't catch everything. He mentioned something about a case against me connected to HMRC, and said they’d been trying to get in touch. Then he threatened that the police would come and cuff me. I looked up the number 07441393001 afterwards and decided to report it here.

Got a msg left on my home phone claiming HMRC's taking legal action against me. The use of "lawsuit" threw me off since over here they'd probably say "court proceedings", but it still gave me a bit of a fright.

My 81 year old dad, who has heart problems, got a call from 07441393001 telling him he’d be arrested for owing £2000. He got really scared and gave them his info just before ending the call because he was having chest pains. This sort of thing is awful and these scammers should be put to a stop.

This number just rang me on my home phone. They left a voicemail, which was about HMRC and some legal action, very similar to the recordings earlier here. Honestly, I'd expect HMRC to send a proper letter rather than a voicemail, right? Plus, they didn't say who the message was meant for, which seems odd.
