Today around 1pm, I got a call from this number with a recorded female voice claiming it was HMRC and that there’s a case against me. Then the call just ended suddenly. Feeling quite worried, I called back and a bloke answered saying it was HMRC, but when I asked who he was, the line went dead straight away. Pretty sure this is a scam and now I’m stressed that ringing back might end up costing me heaps. Normally I don’t get fooled by these things but this one really threw me off. Hopefully someone will look into tracking these scammers down soon.

Got a call about 4:39pm and didn’t pick up, so it went to voicemail. The message said something about HMRC taking me to court and told me to press a button to talk to them! I just ignored and deleted it straight away. But now I’m stuck because I can’t block this number - definitely sounds like a scam to me. No way HMRC would ring like that. This number needs to be looked into by the fraud authorities for sure.

Got a voicemail supposedly from HMRC saying they were gonna take legal action against me and to press 1 to talk to a case handler. I didn't press anything. Fingers crossed this number is blocked now.

Got a call from this number earlier, an automated voice claimed HMRC was taking me to court and asked me to "Press 1". Then a man with an Indian accent said I was being sent to jail for not paying tax. Before that, he wanted me to verify my address, date of birth, and National Insurance number. This kind of info is exactly what scammers want. So I just hung up straight away! No way would HMRC get in touch like this.

Got a missed call and when I checked my voicemail, it said something about the Inland Revenue looking into me. Honestly, it freaked me out at first. So, I looked up the number here and after seeing what others said, I’m pretty sure it’s just a scam. These idiots just want to scare folks.

Got a voicemail saying I was under investigation by HM Revenue and Customs, and to press 1 to chat with my case officer. I did, and ended up speaking to a guy with an Indian accent who somehow knew my name, probably from my number. He asked for personal info but I refused. I asked him to send a letter instead, which he said they don’t do - something the real tax office definitely would. Then he warned me I’d be sent straight to jail, to which I told him I was ready for it and then just hung up.

Got a call earlier today from a guy with an Indian accent telling me I was gonna get arrested and sent to prison. At first, I was so terrified I actually ended up giving him my National Insurance and mobile details. While I was still on the call, I rang up my local tax office on another phone. He overheard me mentioning HMRC and asked who I was talking to. As soon as I said it was the tax office, he just cut off the call. Honestly, it shook me up big time and I’m still feeling quite rattled.

Today, this number called my elderly mum who’s currently undergoing chemotherapy for cancer and is quite fragile right now. The call really unsettled her and made her feel worse than she already does. Thankfully, I was able to calm her down by explaining it was a scam - official tax offices don’t call from mobile phones or threaten immediate legal action; they send formal letters first. With cancer rates so high in India, I hope those behind this scam one day understand the pain someone like my mum endures.

Got a call from this same number and they just dropped the call on me! Like, who does the tax office ring from a mobile without sending a letter first? Complete joke, honestly. Best thing to do is just ignore and hang up 👍🏻

Got a call at about 2 in the afternoon today from a recorded lady saying she was calling from HMRC and that there was some case against me. After doing a bit of digging, I found out it was a scam because HMRC never uses mobile numbers to contact people. It really upset my elderly mum and me. Honestly, these calls shouldn't be happening at all. We blocked the number straight away.

Funny thing is, I got a legit letter from the tax folks this week (which is rare, usually I only get the standard tax code notices).
