Got a call from this number and didn't have a clue who it was. So, I answered with “Detective Weaver speaking, what can I do for you?” and they just ended the call straight away.

Don't waste your time picking up, it's just those accident claim people ringing again. Pure annoyance every time!

These accident claim folks are proper lowlifes. If you get a call from them, be polite and say yes, you had an accident. Then chuck them a load of made-up info to keep them chatting for ages. Just don’t give your real name or any true contact details. The whole point is to tie them up so they’re wasting cash on someone who won’t hand over any business. Be friendly and play along, but keep your story believable. If they catch on you're just messing about or wasting their time, they’ll cut you off straight away.

these people are definitely trying to get you to make a personal injury claim. first, you get an automated voice with a british accent saying hello, and if you respond, it connects you to some call centre in india. they immediately start asking questions about any accident you might have had. the caller ID is fake too, probably illegal. when i tried ringing back, the number just showed as invalid. they clearly ignore rules about not phoning numbers on the do-not-call list or anything like that.
