Back in 2020, a message from a nearly identical number ended up causing loads of trouble between family members.

dodgy caller. Got a message out of the blue from a stranger pretending they were texting their mum, asking for a reply so they could get her number again since they apparently got a new computer and lost all their contacts. Obviously, that’s bollocks - if they had the number to text in the first place, they wouldn’t need to ask for it back! Looks like a classic trick to get you to reply so they can scam you somehow. Watch out!
