Some bloke rang up claiming to be from BT, saying there’d been issues with my internet lately and others nearby had the same problem. He asked for my current speed, so I just made up a random figure. Next thing, he says he’s going to reboot my router and that he’s sent me a PIN to verify my identity. He asked me for that PIN, which was odd because I actually got a message (supposedly from BT) on my phone. I told him I hadn’t seen any text and that the router was working fine anyway. After that, he just ended the call!

This number called my home phone with a recorded message saying there were suspicious activities on my account. They mentioned a £199 charge supposedly from Amazon but never specified which bank or company they were from. The message offered two choices - press one to cancel the transactions or press two to speak with the Fraud team. I didn’t select either option, just hung up straight away and then blocked the number.
