Yeah, they somehow got hold of my mobile after knowing stuff about my company. Bit sketchy if you ask me.

Got a call from a guy with an Asian accent claiming to be from EDF Energy. He told me my electricity meter was faulty and needed replacing. He wanted a photo of it, so I sent one over. Then he asked which company I worked for and even seemed to look up my name and birth year on Companies House or somewhere. Next, he asked for my birth date, which felt off. I hung up and rang EDF Energy myself. Turns out, they never tried contacting me and there’s nothing wrong with my meter. Total scam, don’t share your private info with strangers!

Just when I was switching my energy supplier, I got a call regarding the final meter readings. The person said the smart meter measuring gas in cubic metres wasn’t right because of pressure problems, so it had to be swapped with a new one that reads in kilowatt hours and is more precise. They also mentioned a refund they would arrange for me. I double-checked with both my old and new energy providers and they told me it’s a scam and they’d investigate. Strange thing is, this caller seemed to know some accurate info and had a weird accent, saying they were calling from London.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from EDF about switching my smart meter. Asked me to send a pic of the meter through WhatsApp. The person sounded Asian.
