Got a text saying it was from the Halifax about a new payee added to my account. Thing is, I don’t even have an account with them, so I figured straight away it was a load of rubbish.

Like others have said, got a text from that number saying HMRC says I’m due a tax refund. Sure, I’ve been waiting on one since January but getting a message about it already just seems fishy. Plus, HMRC doesn’t usually do it through texts like that. Definitely feels like a scam to me.

Got a text saying it was from HMRC about some tax refund. Didn’t bother opening the message but decided to look up the number first. Looks dodgy, probably just a scam.

Got a message from this number saying it was HMRC and that I had a rebate coming. Sounds like a typical scam to me, just after your bank info. Watch out!

I got a message saying I could claim a tax refund from HMRC, and it told me to go to some website to do it. Im sure the site would try to get my bank info if I actually went there. HMRC definitely doesn’t handle rebates that way. Pretty clearly a scam.
