On Monday midday, 11-2024, I got a call from 07309 674787. The caller had a thick Indian accent which made me instantly wary. She claimed to be from HMRC, which only made me more suspicious if that was even possible. I asked straight away for her ID badge number to verify with the proper authorities. When I told this deceitful caller that it was clearly a scam, the line just went dead. Honest me scores a point, but that lying scammer? Definitely loses one.

Got a call from 07309 273000 saying HMRC was taking me to court for fraud. I just ended the call straight away without listening to the rest of their robotic message. I’m disabled and have never had any trouble with the law. These scammers are really scary and upsetting, especially for people like me. I’m only in my early 50s, but if this call had gone to someone older, they’d probably be terrified and stressed out. Honestly, these con artists need to be locked away for good to protect innocent people.

In just two hours, they rang me four times beginning around 8:30 in the morning. Yesterday, I got a suspicious email saying HMRC owed me a rebate of more than 600 pounds. I phoned the number they provided this morning, and a man on the line said he was from HMRC and even gave me a badge number. That’s when I recalled the dodgy email. I told him I was onto his scam and was reporting it to the police, then he quickly ended the call. Best thing is to block this number and avoid all the trouble.

Beware of people claiming to be Officer Dennis Grey from HMRC Auto Service, ringing your mobile and threatening legal action. If HMRC genuinely needed to contact you, they’d either send a letter or come to your house, not just call and scare you. Definitely don’t answer those calls!
