Got a call earlier today but didn’t pick up. Thought it might be dodgy, so I looked it up here. Turns out it was a scam, so I’ve blocked the number now.

SCAM ALERT: This number rang me just after 8 in the morning. Normally I ignore unknown numbers but figured it might be an emergency since it was so early. Turns out it was a recorded message claiming to be from HMRC, warning me of some supposed legal action. It offered options to speak to a person, probably to trick you into handing over cash. Definitely a scam. Best thing is to hang up immediately, avoid any chat, and never share your banking info. HMRC would never reach out like this.
