Total scammer. I was selling some electronics valued at about £900. We settled on a price and for two days I kept him updated with delivery progress and even emailed proof of postage. He decided to pay through a bank transfer (Secure Trust Bank), but later sent a fake payment confirmation from a dodgy Gmail that looked like a legit bank email, after I'd already sent the stuff. Fortunately, I managed to have everything sent back to me in time. Lesson learned: never take talks or payments off the site where you originally listed the item. Don't make that mistake like I did.

Somebody called me claiming they wanted to buy my laptop after seeing my ad on Gumtree. They asked for my bank info and then tried to send me money, but it turned out the transfer was a total fake. They even emailed me a "confirmation" that looked real but was completely bogus. Definitely a scam, watch out!
