Phone number ☎️ 07142261212 👆 is reported as a persistent scam targeting UK residents, involving automated calls with an American-accented male voice posing as BT or TalkTalk representatives. Callers falsely claim fraudulent activity, malware issues, or unauthorized usage on the recipient's internet or phone service, threatening arrest if the listener does not press 1 to connect to a supposed technician. The calls are distressing, especially for elderly or vulnerable individuals, with messages repeated multiple times before hanging up. Pressing 1 leads to silence or on-hold music, and the numbers often appear as mobile or foreign, suggesting they do not originate in the UK. Recipients are strongly advised not to respond, not to press any keys, and to block or report the number to prevent further harassment.

Got a call from a robotic sounding bloke claiming to be from the "BT Technical Centre," saying my internet had malware and was being used for some sort of fraud. He warned me I'd be arrested straight away if I didn't press "1." The funny thing is, I don’t even have internet! Total scam, really nasty and it could scare folks badly. It’s mad that these scammers aren’t caught and punished properly. Why do they get away with it?

Got a call from an automated guy with an American accent pretending to be from BT. He said there was some dodgy activity on my email and warned I'd get arrested if I didn’t press one to talk to someone from BT. Seems like just another version of those BT phone scams I’ve heard about lately.

My elderly in-laws got one of those automated calls pretending to be from BT saying the police would get involved if we didn’t press 1. I’m pretty sure these calls aren’t even coming from the UK. They really should be tighter about how foreign companies are allowed to use UK numbers, especially BT or whoever’s in charge of number allocation. It’s just not right.

On 6th June 2019, I got yet another scam call pretending to be from BT, saying there was some problem with my connection or illegal activity. I’ve been getting loads of calls like this from different numbers lately and I normally just block them straight away. But this was the first time the voice was a man’s, sounded like a robot or pre-recorded message, telling me I’d get arrested if I didn’t follow their orders! Honestly, the safest thing to do is just hang up immediately.

If you get texts or calls that seem like a scam, you can send them to 7726. For calls from a mobile number, mentioning something like 'Scam call' helps. Then the mobile companies look into it and can block those numbers.
