We just experienced something quite similar. We made a call and a gentleman with a Chinese accent picked up, but then abruptly hung up and subsequently blocked our number. I’d strongly advise against engaging with these people.

I've come across the same number linked to a scam in Brighton as well. They were incredibly verbose in justifying their demand for proof of funds before anything could proceed. Clearly a dodgy operation if you ask me.

I stumbled upon a rather appealing flat in Southampton advertised on Gumtree, but the address was incorrectly listed as Rd/St by the user [email protected], and the listing vanished within the hour. Shortly after, I encountered a Moneygram scam where you were instructed to send your mate £400 as a deposit, plus another £340 for four days’ rent. They then requested a copy of the receipt, claiming they would pass it on to their ' solicitor' to demonstrate your financial reliability. Apparently, with just that Moneygram transfer copy, they can divert the funds at will! One of their email communications even included the number 0702 4093708.

This number has been linked to a bunch of deceitful, unscrupulous individuals. They’ve been swindling folk out of their hard-earned cash through scams. Recently, they were attempting to con people by advertising a nonexistent flat on Gumtree. Absolutely shameless and utterly spineless! They’re operating under the name Helena Duffy ([email protected]). Beware!

I've encountered the very same issue! I shot off an email regarding a flat in Nottingham I found on Gumtree and replied accordingly. The message I received back was suspiciously similar to the one you've described, absolutely plastered with red flags. I tried calling the number, but all I got was some random advertisement blaring in my ear. Curiosity got the better of me, so I typed the email into a search engine and, lo and behold, I stumbled upon countless others sharing the same unfortunate experience. Truly, be cautious with this one! Give it a wide berth! I hope this advice proves useful for anyone else out there!

My partner was considering leasing a flat he spotted in a community newspaper. He had exchanged a few emails and then decided to give Mrs Lawson a ring on this number. However, all he got was some dreadful hold music! They insisted on payment through Western Union, and having found this information, we’re definitely steering clear now. Cheers for the heads-up!
