I received a call from a chap with an Indian accent, who claimed to be reaching out regarding my Windows computer, stating that their files indicated I'd contracted a virus. When I pointed out that I actually use a Mac, he abruptly ended the call. Quite amusing, really!

Got a call saying there was a problem with my laptop, but it turned out to be a scam. I kept them chatting for nearly 12 minutes, quite a bit of fun really. Just a heads up, keep an eye out for the number 03336319991.

some bloke named bruce phoned me saying he was from bt openreach. he reckoned he had to disconnect my internet cause apparently my ip was involved in some dodgy stuff. this is the second time they’ve bothered me in a couple of days. played along for a bit then gave him a right dressing down. hope they don’t ring up again.

I recently received a rather dubious call from a chap using the number 058754554, claiming he was from BT Openreach and threatening to disconnect my internet service. Quite ironic, considering I'm actually with the Post Office! He went on about how I was supposedly up to some nefarious activities on my computer, which was quite amusing since it was switched off at the time. The tone turned a bit more aggressive when he insisted I switch it on, clearly a scammer fishing for my personal information. A complete charlatan! Don’t engage with these sorts; just hang up and report them!

Received a call this morning purporting to be from BT. I pointed out that we're registered with the Telephone Preference Service, so they should really be aware of that, shouldn't they?

A bloke claiming to be from BT, and apparently phoning from Pakistan, had the audacity to say they were going to disconnect my internet. Quite amusing, really! As soon as I pushed back and questioned his motives, he quickly ended the call. Stay alert, everyone!

I received calls from this number, one from a chap claiming to be with Talk Talk and the other insisting he represented BT. Both of them warned me that hackers were allegedly tampering with my phone line and insisted on making adjustments to my computer. A notable thing is both speakers had noticeable Indian accents, and when I pressed them on their location, they became quite angry. Please beware - it's a total scam! Simply hang up the phone and report it.

I've had the misfortune of receiving calls from this chap on two occasions now. The first time, back in 2015, he had the audacity to say he was with #Microsoft, insisting that I needed to fiddle with my software settings to ward off supposed viruses. Mind you, I'm a Mac user but do have MS Office installed. If you dare to ask him too many questions, he really loses his temper. Then, just today in February 2016, he called me again, this time claiming to be from the fraud line at #ABSA. He was after my card information and the security code from the back, claiming it was essential to prevent some online fraudulent activity. Naturally, I flat out refused to divulge any details, which only seemed to irk him further. He rather rudely remarked that it was hardly his concern if my account got wiped out. I promptly rang ABSA's fraud department, and they reassured me that a legitimate bank will never request such sensitive information like card numbers or security codes.

I've had a couple of run-ins with this chap. Last year, he insisted he was from Microsoft, claiming I needed to fiddle about with my software to stave off viruses. Mind you, I’m a Mac user, though I do have MS Office installed. When I probed him with too many questions, he became quite irate. Fast forward to today, in February 2016, and he's back at it, this time asserting he’s from the ABSAs fraud department. He was angling for my card information and the CVV from the back of my card, all in the name of averting an online fraud incident. When I flatly refused to divulge any details, he lost his temper, saying it wasn’t his concern if my account got wiped clean. I took it upon myself to reach out to ABSA’s official fraud line, and they were clear: the bank would never request sensitive information like card numbers or security digits from me.

Claimed to be calling from Microsoft, but given my position at an ISP, I reckon they'll spin whatever tale they must to grab your interest. Best approach it all with a healthy scepticism! Take care out there! x
