Got a call from 053787 and when I answered there was nothing but silence. I just waited a bit and didn’t say anything, then the call ended. Later, I looked up the number and seen loads of reports from folks who said it was a scam attempt. My advice? Just ignore the call and never trust anyone claiming there’s an issue with your computer or internet.

Got a call from 053787 at about 8:30 in the morning on 18/1/17. At first there was music playing, then some bloke started talking. He even knew my name, which was a bit creepy. He said he was calling from BT about my internet. I told him my internet was working perfectly and he just went "alright then" and ended the call.

This morning, just before 8, my phone rang from a number I didn’t recognise. I usually ignore calls from strangers and wait for a voicemail if it’s really urgent. Seeing what others have said here, I’m glad I stuck to my usual habit. Honestly, best to just not pick up at all.

Before 8 in the morning, when I was still tucked up in bed after a rough night, this number rang me. I wasn’t happy to find out that B.T. was threatening to disconnect my internet, but honestly, the worst part was the ridiculously early hour of the call. What really confused me was the caller’s number - it was a strange 6 digit one that sounded like it was from overseas.

On 13th January 2017, I got a call from someone named 'Roger' claiming to be from 'BT'. He said my internet was about to be disconnected. I called him out, telling him it was a scam. He then shouted some really nasty insults at me, calling me a swear word and an awful name. That number is now blocked on my phone, fingers crossed I don't get any more calls like that. You'd think with all the clever tech nowadays, these kinds of calls could be stopped right at the start or at least tracked down and shut down.

Got a call from this number back on 12/01/2017. A bloke with a male voice said he was from BT and warned my internet would get cut off if I didn’t do something. Pretty clearly a scam, he ended up swearing at me and just hung up. Definitely don’t trust anyone from this number.

On 12/01/2017, I got a call from someone named John Parker who had a strong Nigerian accent. He claimed he was with BT and said that to fix a nationwide internet issue, they’d be turning off the internet for an hour. He told me to download some software over the phone to sort it out. Pretty clear to me it was a total scam.

Last week, while I was at my mum and dad's place, I got a call from an Asian lady. When I said there isn't any internet set up here, she just told me to buzz off and hung up straight away. Quite rude!

I got a call from someone with an Indian accent, but there were plenty of other voices chattering away in the background. They claimed to be from BT and said there was an issue with viruses on their server, urging me to go online to sort it out. I suspected they were after something dodgy, so I pressed him for more details. Unsurprisingly, he hung up on me. When I tried to ring back, it led me to a 053-787 number, probably just another dodgy line.

This bloke claimed to be from BT’s technical team. After getting heaps of calls from groups pretending to be from Microsoft or Windows about my PC, I asked him how I could be sure he was really from BT. I didn’t give him any details about myself! Then he just ended the call!

I’ve had a few calls from someone saying they’re with TalkTalk - it’s happened like three times now. If you see that number pop up, I’d just recommend not picking up; it’s probably a scam.
