I tried ringing back but it turned out the number wasn’t real or registered, weird because they just ended the call!

Got a robotic voicemail saying it was the National Crime Agency, claiming my details including my NI number were involved in dodgy stuff. I just ended the call straight away and blocked the number - classic info-stealing trick by scammers, just another one trying their luck.
