They attempted to persuade me to access the event viewer on my computer. He claimed his firm had been tipped off that my computer was encountering some sort of internal difficulties. To top it off, he purported to represent Windows (how amusing!). I cordially suggested he pop round to my place, where he could attend to my computer in person rather than over the phone, offering him all the assistance he might require.
