I've had several consecutive calls from a dodgy character pretending to be from Halifax’s Fraud Team, using a number that looked legitimate. I finally picked up after being bombarded with calls. The bloke on the other end claimed there were issues with some card transactions and proceeded to rattle off details of fictitious charges. It was quite believable at first, but as soon as I mentioned I wouldn't divulge any personal information, he became rather aggressive, insisting I needed to verify everything with him. I decided to cut the conversation short and contacted Halifax directly - turns out it was all a scam!

I got a text from this number saying they’d sent my credit card ending in ---- and if I don’t receive it within 5 working days to call back. BEWARE, THIS IS A SCAM ========= The weird part is the card number matched my old expired card but the phone number they gave was supposedly my bank’s.

Halifax This number is actually printed on the back of your Halifax credit card, so it’s a genuine one. Have a look at the back of your card to confirm.

I got a text from Halifax saying my new credit card had gone out, and if I didn’t get it within 5 working days I should ring that number. The number looks like it's really from Halifax. My current card runs out in March, so it might be legit. Still, I’m not taking chances with all the scams these days, and I’m definitely not clicking the phone number link in the message. If I need to call, I’ll use their official phone banking number and ask to be put through to the right department.

they rang me with all my details like my address and said argos had taken money from me and set up a direct debit. the bloke was a proper plonker, didnt even sound like a proper sales call. rubbish attempt really, but watch out and dont get caught. take care x

0345 944 4555 - Honestly, dont pick up if they call ya. They said they was from Halifax and wanted to check some ‘fraud’ on my account - but trust me, it aint Halifax at all!

It was a scam, they rang saying my card had been frozen after someone tried to use it. They mentioned three Just Eat orders which I didn’t make. They asked for my address and DOB, so I got tricked. They claimed they had to lock my online account and gave me a 4 digit code to enter when Halifax called me back. I did it, then they phoned again providing new login info, but they already had access and ended up stealing all my money.

Got a call from a woman saying she was with Halifax, trying to verify a supposed address change on my account. I told her I'd look into it myself and ended the call. She rang me again shortly after, and I said I wouldn’t talk over the phone, Halifax can send a letter if it’s important, then hung up without sharing anything. It was 7 in the evening, so pretty obvious it was a scam. Honestly, it’s just annoying after a tiring day at work.

I’m proper annoyed because I’ve never dialled this number, but somehow my phone company has billed me for calls to it twice now!! Honestly, can’t believe it. So frustrating.

Somebody rang saying they were from Halifax fraud dept, claiming my old card (that I already reported lost) was being used miles away, over 200 miles actually. They wanted me to give the last 10 digits of my new card, the expiry date and the 3 digit code on the back. I told them to ring back in half an hour. Then I popped into my bank and they told me nobody from fraud had called. Seriously, dont pick up if you get this call!!!

Check the back of a Halifax Mastercard, you'll see it's got the exact same number.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from Halifax after I accidentally entered my info into a dodgy "3 mobile network" text with a bitly link telling me to move all my money to a different account. I managed to get the name and account number of the scammer. The phishing started with a text from "3notify" - don’t reply or click on that message!
