I received a text that claimed to be from Lloyds Bank, supposedly about a transaction on my account. Turns out it was a scam!

I received a call from someone purporting to be Claire Wilson, an employee in the fraud department at Santander. They mentioned there were suspicious transactions linked to my account and asked whether I had authorised them. Strangely, she then mentioned the last four digits of my card and my date of birth, which definitely set off alarm bells! She insisted on obtaining my telephone banking PIN, but I refused to provide it. She became quite insistent, mentioning that their office hours were until 5pm and threatening to cancel my telephone banking if I didn't comply. Suddenly, the line went dead. I promptly rang Santander directly, only to find out that my account was completely fine-no transactions or issues at all. Please be cautious, as these scammers are exceptionally convincing!

Received a call purporting to be from the Santander Fraud Department, they seemed to know my name but surprisingly reached out to my wife's mobile instead. They mentioned that my number had been registered as secondary and her number was now the primary contact, which seems quite dubious to me. They claimed to have intercepted two suspicious transactions - one for £260 to Amazon and another for £700 related to BMW, along with attempts to set up a new online banking system. Naturally, they asked for my number to verify things, which set alarm bells ringing for me. I opted to cut off the conversation and was advised that I could get in touch with the Santander Fraud Team myself. They put on a very convincing front - just a heads up to everyone to stay alert!

Received a call from someone purporting to be from the Santander Fraud Department, supposedly verifying transactions on my account. They provided an exact sort code and account number for an account I used to have. Thankfully, I realised that the account is no longer in use, so I refrained from sharing any personal information. The caller was quite persuasive, though. Just a word of caution - best to avoid engaging!
