For the last week, I’ve been getting nonstop calls and texts from someone called Fredrickson. When I picked up, they refused to tell me the reason for calling, saying it was something to do with ‘data protection.’ I told them I don’t owe anything and don’t even have credit cards. I ended the call and blocked the number, but they keep trying to get through. Has anyone figured out what’s going on with this?

I got an automated text from them saying I owed money, but I don’t have any debts. So, I blocked the number on my iPhone (Quick tip: tap the little ‘i’ at the top right on the message, then tap the phone icon to call, it dials a hidden number. Tap that number and choose block so you won’t get any more texts). This morning I got a call from a landline but I never answer unknown numbers, and after checking it was the same mob, I just blocked that one too. If they send a letter, I’ll tell them where to stick it - for now, just keep blocking. Simple really.

Fredrickson buys debts from other businesses, which means legally they have no claim since you never signed anything with them. They’re a small firm, not some huge international company like they pretend. They’re just spreading false info. The voicemail sounds like it’s made by a robot, but it’s got someone else’s name on it and mentions fredricksons international. I called back and had a nice chat with a woman who promised to take my number off their list. They appear to be honest debt collectors, dealing with clients who’ve been given fake details like wrong names and numbers. If you get calls like this, I’d recommend ringing them back first too.

Got a call from Frederickson Debt Collection, rang them back and told them the person they wanted isn’t at my address or linked to my landline. The customer service person was really nice and said sorry for the mistake. They removed my number from their list so fingers crossed I won’t get any more calls. Virgin Mobile billed me £67 for texts when I was just using Whatsapp and Viber; I paid that but then they added over £100 more for texts, which I argued about.
