I got a phone call from what seemed to be a reputable firm, very convincing at first, I must admit. However, when they started requesting complete card details, I became suspicious. I can 100% confirm that this was a dodgy call pretending to be from Nationwide. The bloke on the line said they’d intercepted a payment to Screwfix, which I’m certain I hadn’t authorised. To top it all off, the same fake Nationwide number also rang my partner’s mobile - how ridiculous! Classic scam really, they pretended to be from Nationwide and said there was suspicious activity on my account. Definitely a scam. He spins this tale about 17 local folks’ accounts being messed with. Says his job is to nail the crooks and lock em up, but honestly, he’s the real crook here! The creepy bit is he actually knows your account details and the 16-digit number on your card. Best thing is to block his number straight away. Though he fiddles with one or two digits at the start of his number, so it can take a while to get him to stop ringing.

Got a call from someone called Mark, said he was from Lloyds bank. He knew my first name and said there were suspicious transactions on my account today. He asked me to confirm the last two digits of my postcode. Got a call from someone pretending to be Nationwide, saying there was some dodgy activity on my account. I looked up the number while talking to them and ended the call before giving any info once I saw all the warnings. I use online banking so I know for sure there’s been no suspicious activity. Makes me worry about the older folks who might actually get tricked by this sort of scam.

03457302011 Got a call from someone claiming to be the Nationwide fraud team, saying they were looking into odd activity on my account. They wanted me to verify some security info but as soon as I said I wasn’t comfortable giving that out, the line got cut!

Got a call about some Royal Mail scam saying I owed money for a missed delivery. They wanted payment straight away. I gave my card details but nothing came out for a day, so I cancelled the card through my bank, Nationwide. Then this bloke rang pretending to be from Nationwide's fraud team. Total con. Just block the number, don’t even bother.

This bloke claimed he was from some fraud team trying to help me. Said he’d open a new account for protection so I moved some money over, then the call just dropped right after. Seems alright at first but what a total bellend. Seriously, don’t get caught out by this!

They claimed to be from Nationwide and asked about these so-called "suspicious" charges that weren’t even on my bank account. Then they started pressing me for my personal details to do a "security check" so they could supposedly send a new card. I told them I’d just use the app to cancel and replace my card instead of giving info over the phone, and they just hung up. Don’t get caught out by this!

Without a doubt, this is a banking scam. I got trapped after receiving a dodgy email pretending to be from Royal Mail Group asking for £3 for a missed package. I took the bait but soon realised the mistake and cancelled my bank card straight away. Tonight, they even called me pretending to be from the bank’s fraud team. Just watch out and stay safe!

Nationwide called me from an international number. First, an Asian accent spoke, then a guy with a British accent. Seemed pretty convincing, but as someone who’s dealt with scams before, I spotted loads of warning signs. Total SCAM. They rang about 7pm. When I finally swore at the bloke, he actually swore back! Definitely not professional at all.

That’s Nationwide's number, you can check it on their official site. I normally ring them when I need to get through to the mortgage team.
