Received a call purporting to be from the fraud department at Halifax, stating there were two questionable transactions-one attributed to JD and another to Argos. I ended the conversation when they failed to verify my last three payments, even though they had all my details like my full name, phone number, and the last four digits of my card. I promptly rang the genuine Halifax number to clarify, and they assured me it was a scam. The caller even referenced the alleged £600 charge from Argos when I brought it up! Interestingly, the number they used was just one digit off from the official fraud hotline (it ends in 40 instead of 50). Be cautious out there, everyone!
