My partner got a letter telling him to ring this number. It’s a total scam! Always contact Barclays directly via the app on your phone - Barclays said the letter isn’t from them at all. We even showed it to a branch and they confirmed it was bogus. Watch out and don’t give out your bank details or membership info. Make sure you report it to Barclays, the police, and the FCA.

A woman claiming to be from Barclays was asking for a “Holly Whittaker”. I kept asking her for a password and she totally got confused. No matter what she said, without a password I wouldn’t give her any info. So, my advice: if you want to make sure a company contacting you is legit, set up a password with them and tell them they have to give it before you speak to them. If banks can ask for passwords over the phone, you can defo ask them for one too. Makes perfect sense, really! Haha.

If you’re not 100% certain it’s us on the line, hang up and call us directly. Just so you know, the stuff above could’ve been written by anyone, not necessarily Barclays. Also, there’s no real Barclays logo here - those can be found online and used by anyone as well.

I've got a loan with Barclays and I'm managing my payments fine, all set up on direct debit with no issues. Yet this number keeps ringing me almost daily for over half a year. I've blocked it, but somehow I still get missed calls - beyond frustrating. There's no way it's Barclays, I'm not behind on anything. Its the Barclays debt recovery group, if youve got a loan and find it hard to keep up with repayments, youll be put through to the financial assessments team (0333 202 7412). If a payment is missed, you then deal with the collections team (03457 034 034). Might sound harsh, but theyre usually quite decent and try to help sort things out. This isnt a scam, its a real part of Barclays.
