Got a text claiming to be from Lloyds with a login code and two phone numbers to call if I wasn’t expecting it. Right away, it felt dodgy. The message just had the day on top, and it was wrong anyway - it said tomorrow instead of the actual day. Plus, the numbers they gave didn’t line up with any I’ve seen in legit Lloyds messages before. Definitely not convinced this was genuine.

This is really risky. The number shows up as Lloyds bank, but hackers are using it too. They had all the info about my dad’s accounts and personal stuff. Got an automated call and a few texts claiming to be from Lloyds Bank saying I needed to "confirm your changes" with a code, and there was a number to call if I wasn't expecting it (03456030633 or +441733462319 if abroad). Since I hadn’t made any changes, I decided to check the number on this site and found out it’s a scam. I’d tell anyone who gets a message like that to ring their bank using a number they’re sure is legit instead of using the one they provide!

However, since I wasn’t anticipating any communication from them, I was suspicious about the number 0345603633. The recorded message I got sounded just like the real security prompts from Lloyds, including prompts for my card/account number, date of birth, and CVV. After being informed that the texts were mistakenly sent, I promptly rang the bank using the number on my card. I went ahead and blocked my credit card. SMART TRICK, BE CAREFUL! Got a message from this number claiming to be Lloyds bank fraud team - total scam. When I told them the text didn’t look legit, they just ended the call. They sounded really convincing before sending that ‘verification’ message, but it didn’t show up with the usual official texts from Lloyds I’ve seen before. Very sneaky!

I got a text saying I’d supposedly paid £500 to John Lewis, which I never did. Shortly after, a call came through from a “PRIVATE NUMBER” claiming to be from Lloyds Bank’s fraud team. They told me there was an attempt to take this payment out and warned my account was in danger of being emptied. They told me to move all my funds to a new Lloyds account based in Piccadilly, under the name Ms Gabriela A M Fieraru (seemed odd, right?). While chatting to them I quickly phoned Lloyds fraud department on my landline, who confirmed my suspicions that it was a scam.

This number is real but theres always the chance scammers are faking it. Better be safe than sorry. Calls claiming to be from your bank might be fraudsters or your actual bank contacting you about an issue with your account.

It doesn't really matter if this is a legit Lloyds Bank phone number or not. Fraudsters have cloned pretty much every single phone number from every bank and they're really slick at tricking folks. If your bank gets in touch, just stay cautious and think it through. Hang up, make sure the call has disconnected, then ring your bank back using the number on the back of your card. Never just ignore calls that say they're from your bank. And don’t wait too long before ringing them back because there might be a problem with your account that needs sorting out quickly.
