Fraud alert! I got a call from someone saying they were with HSBC. They asked for my information, but I refused to give anything. Then they told me, in a really smooth way, to ring the number on the back of my card instead. I decided to check with HSBC myself and they said the number that called me isn't theirs at all. Watch out - scammers are getting cleverer all the time!

I got a voicemail from this number saying there was some suspicious activity on my HSBC account and told me to 'press 1' to reach their fraud department. When I checked with HSBC through their online chat, they told me that this number wasn’t linked to them and they haven’t been trying to contact me. Definitely a scam.

I just got a call from some robot voice claiming there’s suspicious activity on my account with "insert town name here". It said to press 1 to talk to someone. Thing is, I don’t even have an account with HSBC. Don’t share any info with these kinds of calls - sounds like a total scam to me!

Just got done checking with HSBC using the number from their official site and turns out this is a total scam. They told me there’s been no suspicious transactions on my account at all. Anyone saying different here must be working with the scammers themselves. It’s awful that people try to pull these tricks. Always ring your bank directly using the number on their legitimate website before reacting to any strange calls like this!

I usually don’t say this, but this number is actually legit and belongs to HSBC. I called the number on the back of my card myself and they confirmed it’s safe. It’s from their fraud department, so there’s nothing dodgy going on. Anyone saying it’s unsafe probably never answered the call or is just spreading false info. If you’re ever in doubt, just ring up HSBC directly using the number on your card. Easy as that.

Earlier today, I was called and informed that I needed to get in touch with HSBC Business to confirm a payment. This left me feeling both anxious and puzzled, so I immediately dialed the given number in search of some clarity. Thankfully, I discovered that HSBC had actually halted a payment batch that my bookkeeper had initiated. I am extremely thankful for their prompt resolution of the situation. Once again, I would like to express my gratitude to HSBC for managing our accounts effectively!

Sure felt like a scam to me. This number rang me roughly a day after I’d phoned HSBC about my credit card. HSBC. It’s a real number - just one of the many HSBC uses - but can you be sure the caller is legit? Scammers nowadays can fake any number from any bank. Don’t blindly trust calls you weren’t expecting from your bank, but don’t just brush them off either. The call might actually be important and something you need to deal with, or it could be a fraudster trying to steal your money. Always hang up first, make sure the line is busy, then ring the bank back on the number printed on your card. It’s just common sense really.

0345 600 8050 WARNING THIS IS A SCAM!! A caller with a strong Indian accent claimed to be from HSBC and asked to speak with my son about his bank account. My son is only 13 and at school at the time, so I told them I’m authorised to speak on his behalf but they wouldn't accept that and kept demanding to talk to him. They even wanted him to ring them back. I checked with HSBC and they said they hadn’t called us at all today! Recently, my son had some small suspicious charges on his account which we reported, and his account is now frozen. BE CAREFUL.

This is definitely a con. I got a missed call right before I got a text telling me to ring this number. Lately, I've been getting loads of dodgy texts and noticed some tiny unauthorised charges on my bank card. I’ve cancelled the card and told the bank about the fraud. Looks like the scammers have realised the card info’s useless now, and that I’m onto them, so they’re trying a new trick. If you get a message asking you to ring this number, be sure to check your account regularly for any suspicious activity.

Just had the same thing happen to me. They said they were from the HSBC Fraud team and wanted me to verify my name and some security info. I told them no way, I don’t even know who they were. I’ve seen loads of posts about scammers sending legit looking messages about suspicious activity asking if you made a transaction and to reply Y or N, saying they’ll call back. Checked with HSBC online and they said nobody’d tried calling me, so it’s definitely a scam.

They claimed to be from HSBC but something felt off, so I didn't believe them. Now I've noticed loads of others mentioning that the number they used is linked to scam calls. They also sent a text afterwards, which I reckon is probably part of the scam too.

It’s HSBC’s Fraud team calling. HSBC gave me this number to report a dodgy transaction. But honestly, I’d let it ring through and then ring them back, cause they’ll want to check some security details first.

Someone saying they're from HSBC Fraud Team called me and gave my full name, even my middle one, asking to confirm it. They mentioned the first bit of my postcode and wanted me to say the rest, but I said no. The caller had a really strong Indian accent, which made me wary. They said they'd post me a letter but I've already blocked the number now.

Someone calling themselves from HSBC about unusual transactions. They asked "Is this Mr Rollinson?" and we said no, no one here with that name. Then he said "Great, you passed the security check." Seemed dodgy to me. We put him on hold and he just hung up. 100% not actually HSBC.

Someone said they were from HSBC, asking about some transactions on my account. Problem is, I’ve never had an HSBC account, so that was obviously suspicious. Definetly sounds like a scam to me.

yep, it really was the Fraud team. The way they spoke, kinda broken English, and just suddenly asking a security question made me suspicious. Still, best I did was ring the number on my card straight away to be sure.

I got a call saying it was from First Direct (HSBC) about a missed payment and possible fraud. BUT I've had calls like this before from folks pretending to be FD, which ended up being scammers. They can fake any phone number they like, so honestly, the safest thing to do is just let it ring off and call them back yourself. That way you know you’re dealing with the real deal. And if you don’t have an account with HSBC or First Direct, be super careful and don’t share any personal info.

Got a call from First Direct (HSBC) saying there was a problem with a payment and possible fraud. BUT ive had calls before from what looked like FD which ended up being scammers. They can basically call you from any number they like, so my top tip is to let it ring off and call them back yourself. That way you can be sure it’s genuine. If you dont have any accounts with HSBC or First Direct, be really careful and never share your info.

After looking at the replies, it seems like this could be linked to HSBC somehow. I’ve never had an account with them, so I’m not sure why they are ringing me. I’ve just blocked the number as spam.

I phoned my bank using the number printed on my card and this call was totally not from the real HSBC fraud division, it was a scam for sure.

Got a call from this number earlier today. Their English was really poor. Claimed they were from M&S bank, not HSBC. It felt fishy, so I said I was ending the call and then just hung up.

Earlier today, I received a phone call from this number purporting to be from the HSBC Fraud Team. The person on the line immediately asked for my complete card number. It's important to note that I do not bank with HSBC and my family recently experienced a terrible banking scam. As a result, I have become extremely cautious and skeptical of anyone requesting personal information.

Really sketchy call. The person hardly spoke any English. Hung up straight away and contact your bank using the number on the back of your card. This number might show up as HSBC fraud but they use it to confuse you. Stay alert and watch out!

I got several calls from this number saying it was about some HSBC fraud issue. It turned out to be nothing like that. Honestly, I think this number is pretty dodgy.

I’m planning to ring my bank tomorrow since I’m not sure I trust this person who called. It sounded like there was a bird making noise in the background where they were calling from!

I received a phone call from someone identifying themselves as HSBC and requesting my account information. I quickly ended the call, then immediately contacted HSBC directly. They verified that the call was indeed a scam, and assured me that they had not initiated any calls to me.

Got a call from this number today, didn’t give any info and rang HSBC myself using the number on the back of my card. Spoke to someone there and they told me no record of any such call and it definitely wasn’t the fraud department.

I received a call purporting to be from HSBC informing me about certain transactions on my account. The caller seemed to have access to my personal information, such as my postcode and date of birth. They mentioned a potentially concerning transaction on a specific card, as they were aware of the last four digits. However, I found it suspicious that they could not inform me which account the card was associated with.

Someone said they were from HSBC about some strange things happening on our business account. When I told them to talk to our accounts team, they were still polite at first, took the number down, then started swearing, told me to f##k off loads of times and called me a total b####rd.

Loads of scammers ringing asking for your card info to "check" your account. Just ignore them, best not to reply.

They seemed honest enough, but their method of getting in touch was a bit odd. Right off the bat, they wanted me to verify some personal info, which I said no to. Then I asked them to share details about me, which they did, mentioning two payments and the sellers I’d used. So yeah, they were legit, but gave off an impression of being a scammer! Such a strange approach for a fraud prevention squad!
