I got a call from 44-345-600-611 which turned out to be a real Nationwide number. Apparently, their security folks reached out because someone was trying to purchase StubHub UK tickets with my card. The person kept messing up the CVV and expiry details which set off Nationwide's fraud alarms. When Nationwide rang me, I asked to put them on hold but the call just ended. I then rang Nationwide back on the number listed on their official website and was connected to their Security team. They confirmed they had indeed tried to contact me.

I called back on this number after seeing it pop up, turns out it’s from Nationwide’s fraud department. I spoke directly to them to confirm. What’s crazy is they won’t give you any proof of who they are first, but still want all your personal info to confirm you’re legit! Makes no sense to me.

Got a call to my mobile, the person wanted to talk to my husband and even used his name. Claimed to be from Nationwide saying there was a problem with his credit card. I marked this number as unknown cause with tech these days, it might actually be a real Nationwide number but scammers can easily fake it to make it look like it’s them. I got a call on my mobile from a bloke on Mon 11th March 2024 at around 09:30, he wanted to talk to my wife. I wondered why he didn’t ring her directly, so I asked what it was regarding. He said it was to do with her credit card. I told him there were no issues and just hung up. Seemed a bit fishy to me, so just putting it out there - 03456006611 could well be a scammer.

I just replied "N", figuring if it were a genuine message, it’d be alright, but if it was some dodgy scammer, my response wouldn’t matter much. Shortly after, I noticed I had missed two calls from that number. I then had a chat with someone at Nationwide who confirmed that it was indeed their number, and they provided me with a direct line to call for further assistance. When I spoke to a lady in their fraud department, she reassured me that they hadn't reached out to me via text or phone, but they are aware of scammers duplicating their numbers to make it look legitimate. Please, for your own safety, always call Nationwide directly and don’t rely on any numbers from missed calls!

I received a rather curt phone call from this number, which indeed corresponds to Nationwide's official credit card helpline. The person on the other end claimed to be representing Nationwide, insisting on conducting a series of security questions with me. However, when I pointed out that they initiated the call and that I wasn't keen on divulging any sensitive information to someone I didn’t recognise, he rather huffily replied, “Well, just give us a ring back then.” He refused to disclose the reason for his call until I had answered his security inquiries. I suspect this is likely a scam, as there's no sense in calling a helpline without being informed about the issue, which would only leave you in the dark about the appropriate options to select.

It ended up being Nationwide Building Society. At first I was really wary but they were ringing about some odd activity on my credit card while I was away at the end of 2023. I don’t use my account very often and didn’t notice the bank had frozen it. The bloke on the phone told me to call back on the number on the card, and when I did, they verified they were genuinely trying to reach me. So yeah, it was legit.

I got a call from someone saying they're Nationwide Disputes Team, but it was coming from an Indian call centre. They were asking for my credit card details due to some alleged fraud.
