DO NOT ENGAGE! Just to add to what I said earlier, they ring you like 5 or even 10 times daily which is totally not normal for any bank. These lot are definitely SCAMMERS! If you're unsure, get in touch with HSBC directly. Selling personal info is seriously getting way out of control...

BE WARNED! This number was once linked to HSBC, but they no longer use it. I reached out to HSBC directly, and they warned me not to engage with anyone calling from it as it's not legitimate. They even mailed me a letter which, at first glance, might seem real, but if you compare the design and wording with authentic letters from HSBC, you’ll spot the differences. If you’re unsure, it’s best to contact their fraud team or use the app’s chat function to verify when they last sent you anything. Hopefully, this info saves someone else from falling for this.

I recently received a rather puzzling letter from HSBC here in the UK. Strangely, it didn't include any address details, just a phone number to ring - 0345 600 6423. Now I'm wondering if HSBC has somehow taken over the debts of John Lewis customers. Apparently, all credit cards linked to John Lewis were cancelled back in October 2022. So, my question is, do I now owe any money to HSBC? I've been getting letters and calls on my mobile too, but the numbers don’t quite match up. Just to clarify, I've never even held a credit card with HSBC. What on earth is going on?

I received an email that seemed to be from HSBC, urging me to call them immediately - it definitely had an urgent tone. The message looked quite official, complete with professional banking images and colours.

To be on the safe side, I decided to ring up HSBC using a number I found on their official website instead. I shared my information with them, and they assured me that they hadn't sent any email and there was absolutely no need for me to reach out. Turns out, it was yet another scam!

Got an email telling me to ring straight away - rang HSBC on their official number and they checked and said that number is fake, trying to trick people by pretending to be HSBC. They advised me not to press anything on the email, just block and delete it, flagging it as a scam. So yeah, dont answer that email, it’s definitely some sort of scam.

Got an email telling me to get in touch with HSBC Bank, so I called the number given. An automated voice demanded my sort code, account details, then date of birth. I stopped and hung up before giving my DOB because my phone is linked to HSBC, and the voice never mentioned that. I then rang HSBC Personal Banking on their official number, and they told me straight it was a scam and they hadn’t tried to contact me by phone or email at all.

Got an email from [email protected] telling me to ring this number. I called 03457 404 404 instead, and they told me it was for their financial support team. So yeah, it doesn’t seem like a scam.

I've been receiving calls every day, and today I even got an email. My finances are all in order, plus I don’t have an overdraft at all. The email urges me to ring a certain number immediately. It appears to be from HSBC, but when I clicked on the phone number, it took me somewhere else entirely. I decided to hang up. I then contacted HSBC directly, and they assured me that I’m not on their radar for anything at all. So, I’d advise steering clear of this!

This number keeps calling me saying it's HSBC. I actually got hold of HSBC directly and they told me they never tried calling me and that scammers often fake their number to make it look like it’s them. Do not pick up this number, better to call HSBC yourself and confirm if they really wanted to reach you.

Loads of people pretending to be from HBSC trying to scam you. Those good reviews are probably fake, maybe even from the scammers themselves. I reckon they got hold of your info and ring up attempting to get you to pay fake “debts” right then and there. Be careful out there, folks.

Hsbc is constantly bothering their clients. They get other companies involved to chase unpaid balances. The people calling are really impolite and they never mention they're from hsbc. They usually say they’re from debt advice or something similar. This needs to be looked into by the proper officials. Over 690 of us are getting ready to take legal steps against hsbc. Wish hsbc the best of luck with that.

Got a call saying it was from HSBC but seemed fishy, they didn’t give any details and hung up quick. If you’re unsure, best to ring HSBC directly on their official number.

Has anyone noticed the HSBC warning banner above the activity map before rushing to judge this number? Seriously, pay attention folks!! Just a heads up, all bank numbers are being faked by overseas scammers to easily rob people’s accounts. So if your bank rings you, don’t just hang up or ignore it but don’t share or confirm anything either. End the call, make sure it’s fully disconnected, then ring your bank using the number on your card. Don’t leave it too long, there might actually be something wrong with your account that needs sorting.

0345 600 6423 keeps ringing me loads of times every single day. Nobody picks up and they don’t leave any voicemail either. I tried calling back and got this weird automated message saying it was HSBC about some loan or repayment - but i aint got no loan with them.

They kept ringing me over and over wanting my info. Somehow they knew my name, probably got it from some other site. Feels really dodgy to me.

Getting hammered with like 10 calls every day, but not a single voicemail left! A legit company would usually drop a proper voicemail saying who they are and a callback number. This number just leaves loads of empty voicemails that drag on forever. PLEASE don’t pick up or share any info! I used to work at a bank and it’s dead easy to fake a call like it’s from your bank. Best thing to do is ring them directly using the official number on the HSBC website and check for yourself that it’s not really them calling.

This number has rung me three times today. When I finally answered - I always hang on a bit first if its a number I don’t know, just to listen for any signs like a call centre noise - it went silent. I’m guessing it’s a scam, but not sure if it’s something more serious or risky.

I got an answering machine on my landline that kicks in after 5 rings, and this number 0345 600 6423 just hung up right when it started. I only answer if I know the number, and I always use this site to look up any strange ones.

03456006423 keeps ringing me claiming to be HSBC, and I even got an email telling me to call them back on this number. I didn’t share any info and instead rang the bank directly using the official phone from their website. They told me they haven’t been trying to reach me and this number isn’t theirs. Don’t hand over your details, just ignore and hang up. It's definitely a scam.

Had about 8 suspicious calls yesterday from all sorts of different numbers, and now another one today. I just let it ring through and then look up the number online. Last week I answered one from HSBC, some woman started blabbering and I just hung up. I’m so tempted to give them a proper earful about finding a real job and how this could bother old folks, but I don’t want to end up on some sort of ‘target this guy’ list, if that actually exists.

Got calls from the same number 3 times this week, each time saying they were from HSBC. I never shared any info. When I rung my bank, they said they hadn’t tried to contact me and there’s no record of those calls. Definitely a scam! Don’t talk to them or give any details, just end the call straight away. Best wishes to everyone.

What a farce this whole banking situation has become! It’s utterly baffling who to actually trust these days. I’ve received numerous calls from this number, and the feedback is all over the place - some folks say it’s legit, others insist it’s dodgy. Honestly, we really need to revive proper in-person banking. How can we discern what’s true when everything seems so murky?

Received a single call, so I dialled 1471 to uncover the identity of the caller. The service informed me it was HSBC. However, upon cross-referencing the number with my contacts, I realised it wasn’t theirs. Definitely steer clear of returning the call as it’s a scam. A quick search online verified that it’s indeed dodgy.

Actually a proper HSBC number about an unarranged overdraft. Really good service, they put me through to telephone banking so I could stop the direct debit from pushing me into an overdraft, and I can reopen it once I’ve got the money. They do ring pretty often, but now it’s sorted I’m feeling a lot less stressed. Of course, they might spoof the number, so best to ring them back, but if you do have an overdraft it’s probably the collections team. They’ve also frozen any fees on my account for 60 days to give me a break. Really helpful, definitely best to get these things sorted out.
