Got a message from 03455873523 claiming to be HSBC. They said something like, "Hello, we detected the HSBC UK Business Banking App was activated on a mobile device on 25 February 2026 around 16:30 UK time." They told me to ring them straight away on 03455 873 523 if I didn’t do it, and mentioned their line is open 24/7. Honestly, I reckon it’s a scam. The text popped up on my mobile and I’m just going to bin it.

Got an email just like the one described about someone signing up for HSBC online banking. Checked the number and it is legit, shown on HSBC’s official site. Calling them was pointless. When I told them I didn’t have an account, they seemed completely lost on what to do next. They even wondered if my wife might have done it without me knowing. The only “help” they offered was to block emails from HSBC, which makes no sense. Number’s real but the HSBC team clearly don’t know what they’re doing.

Got a text claiming to be from HSBC but I don’t even have an account with them. It said my phone number was used to sign up for business banking and if it wasn’t me, to ring a certain number. I looked up the number on "who called" and it checked out as a scam. I just deleted the message straight away and have installed the Wotcha app to protect myself going forward.

Totally a scam, dont pick up! Its a spoof HSBC number, they say your bank account is in danger but they already know some of your info and try to get more to steal from you. Just hang up and dont talk to them, better safe than sorry.

I got an email that said it was from HSBC telling me they got a request to change the Business Internet Banking payment limits and that they were checking if it was me. This supposedly happened on 28th June 2022 around 9:42 pm. It also said if I didn’t make that change, I should ring them straight away on 03455 873 523 if I’m in the UK or +44 1226 260 878 if abroad. They claim to be available 24/7. But I wasn’t convinced this number was legit HSBC, so I Googled it and found out it’s actually connected to fraud. Just a heads up, watch out for scams like this.

Totally a scam!! They claimed to be from HSBC fraud dept. and asked for my bank info. They already knew my name and kept insisting they could prove their legit by showing me on the website where to find the number. The guy spoke really good English. Watch out for HSBC scams - dont trust the number that pops up on your phone screen! Scammers can easily fake the bank’s number using something called spoofing. Its best to say sorry and ring HSBC directly using the official phone number you know is legit, even if the number looks like the one on their website or the back of your card!
