Just had a rather baffling experience with this number. My phone rang, and when I picked up, there was utter silence on the other end - not even the faintest hint of noise. I was left hanging in confusion for a while before the call just cut off on its own. Quite the peculiar encounter!

They claimed to be EON but I shut my account with them back in Nov 2019. I picked up but nobody spoke, clearly a scam trying to grab your bank info. Be careful and just hang up if they ring you.

Got a call from EON asking for me but using an old name I haven’t gone by in over 16 years. They said it was about an old property supply. I don’t owe EON or any other energy firm anything though. I’ve blocked the number now, but they’ve already called me 4 times in the past couple of days.

Got a call from Eon today about a bill from an old place. Earlier, someone phoned me asking for personal details like my full name, date of birth and account number. When I asked why they were calling, they said it was to sort out an unpaid bill. I told the woman on the line that I’d already settled it, she sounded quite surprised, then I hung up. Just had another ring from ‘Eon’ but I told them the person they were after wasn’t available.

The guy seemed to be from India and sounded like he was working in a noisy call centre. He kicked off with a real rehearsed spiel, saying there was some sort of problem with my account and they needed my meter number to check if my bills were right.

i'm with the last person who posted. I wrote the first and the third comments here and mentioned to e-on that it seemed like someone from their team calling, as i just ended my contract and was expecting my closing statement. it felt pretty dodgy to me.

They called again saying they were from Eon and I apparently owe £708 for a place I haven't lived in for nearly 3 years. Plus, it was one of those prepayment meters. Bit dodgy if you ask me.

What’s concerning is that they mentioned e.on, and I actually do owe them some money, which I've now cleared with them. But how the hell does some dodgy scammer get hold of that info? This number has rung me thrice this week, saying they're from eon, the energy provider. The caller, who said her name was danielle, refused to say what it was about unless i passed some security checks, which i said no to every time. Tonight, i told her to stop calling or i'd report it to the coppers. I've now blocked the number.
