This was an actual call from Tesco’s Card Fraud team. I didn’t call the number or reply to the texts, thinking it was a scam, but I rang the Tesco number printed on the back of my card instead, which you really should do. I got a real call from Tesco Bank about some strange activity on my account. They also sent me a letter saying my account was temporarily frozen until the issue gets fixed. Since it was quite late, I rang the number on the back of my card just to be sure, but I'll need to call again tomorrow to hopefully clear up the issue they told me about.

Like many others, I initially suspected that this phone number and the automated message were part of a scam. I decided to end the call and independently contacted Tesco to verify its legitimacy. To my surprise, it was indeed a genuine communication from them. They informed me that a new card will be issued and sent to me soon.

0345 366 6640 is Tesco’s fraud team number. I called a different Tesco contact first and they told me this was an automated warning about suspicious activity on my account. Really good on Tesco’s part to monitor this and hopefully prevent a bigger sum getting taken from us.

Yeah, I can vouch that this was a legit call from Tesco Bank. Someone managed to get my card details and tried to take £500 from my account. Just to be on the safe side, I didn’t ring back this number and instead called the Tesco credit card fraud team I had saved.

Bit strange this. I used my Tesco credit card to buy something last night. Shortly after, I got a text saying there's been some dodgy activity on my card and asking if I made the purchase. It had a link to click if it was me, which seemed odd as usually these messages say just ignore if it was you or call if not. It was late so I ignored it. Next morning I spotted this number had called me, so I looked it up and found loads of people saying it's either Tesco fraud team or a scam. Not sure which but there's a lot of confusion in these comments.

Got a call from this number on both my mobile and landline - left a voicemail asking me to ring back. I ignored it since I didn’t know who it was, so I looked it up here. Then I called the number on the back of my credit card to double check and let Tesco know.

Got a voicemail from Tesco bank but the number wasn’t the same as the one on my card. When I called the legit number on the card, they told me there was a dodgy transaction attempt and they’d frozen my card. I’d say always ring the number on your card, just to be safe.

Loads of people are saying its Tesco Bank, but keep in mind scammers can easily post good reviews all the time on these sites to make that number seem legit, there’s no real rules stopping them!!!!!!

I looked up the number on the back of my card to confirm it was Tesco Bank. They called about 4 dodgy transactions on my contactless card from last night, but it definitely wasn’t us making them.

They said they were from fraud protection. Sounded like a robot on the phone, very automated. Couldn't trust it one bit. Rang me loads of times every day, asking me to press a button to connect. Definitely didn't feel right.

I got in touch with Tesco bank after getting 3 calls from this number yesterday. They confirmed what I suspected, that the bank doesn’t send pre-recorded messages. Who wants to deal with a bank that doesn’t talk to you directly? They’d want a proper conversation. Be careful! I never press any buttons during a recorded message.

After seeing the comments here, I emailed Tesco Bank. Yesterday I got three calls from them, all were just automated messages asking to press a button to proceed. I didn’t press anything cos it felt dodgy, like a scam. I just don’t get why they’d leave it as a recorded message though! Now I’m hoping Tesco Bank will ring me back properly.

I've received two phone calls from this number claiming to be from the fraud squad at Tesco Bank. However, since we don't have an account with Tesco Bank, we haven't pressed the number they're asking us to. These calls are automated.
