I received a phone call from this number, purporting to be the RBS Fraud Team. They claimed they needed to discuss a transaction on my account that I hadn’t authorised. I later discovered that the transaction in question had actually been processed by them just prior to their call. After reaching out to RBS’s official fraud hotline listed on their website, it was confirmed that no one from their team had contacted me today. Interestingly, they noted that someone had accessed my online banking moments before the transaction occurred, and right after that, I received the call from this suspicious number. It seems quite plausible that these scammers are using technology to mask their real identity and pretend to be calling from an RBS number.

I received a call purporting to be from the Fraud Team at RBS, supposedly to discuss suspicious transactions on our business account. The caller claimed to be based in Portsmouth, and proceeded to ask a multitude of questions. Curiously, I played along to gauge his intentions, especially since we don’t actually bank with RBS. When I pressed him about the nature of the call, he abruptly ended the conversation. It’s clear that this was a scam.
