We got a call saying it was from NatWest about some fraud and that someone was trying to withdraw £643 from our bank account. My wife ended the call straight away. I then rang NatWest myself, and they told me they hadn’t made any calls and there were no suspicious or pending transactions on our account. Definitely a scam, but sounds convincing enough, so watch out for it.

It’s really strange, I don’t understand why anyone would call me pretending to be from my bank. I’ve no clue what they want with me.

A couple of comments down, specifically 5 and 9 below this, there’s a clear guide on what steps to take if your bank rings you out of the blue. You really ought to read them carefully. Banks often ring from various numbers, so it’s tricky to tell if the call is genuine and urgent or just a con job aiming to scam you. Beware, some scammers even rubbish legit numbers by labelling them as scams here, while putting up fake safety messages about scammy numbers. Plus, any real number can be faked these days!

Initially, I just ignored a text from this number cause of what I read here. Then a letter came through the post from Natwest. I rang them on the number I normally use, and they told me this is an actual Natwest number, used by their business review team 0345 246 2770. Date was 13/03/2025.

I made the mistake of replying to a text claiming to be from Royal Mail saying I'd missed a parcel delivery. Since I was expecting something, I naively replied. After realising it was a scam, I contacted my bank to block my card. Later, this number rang me pretending to be from the NatWest fraud department, saying someone had tried to take £150 out in Liverpool that day. They knew loads about me but I had my doubts and ended the call. These people are definitely scammers and this number should be blacklisted.

Totally a scam! Got a call saying my NatWest account was being used on a phone in Liverpool, then they started asking for my balance and told me to cancel my cards myself. They even wanted me to say my card numbers over the phone - red flag right there. You can just do it on the app if you need to cancel! Super aggressive about it too. Watch out and don’t fall for it.

Had a call from some scammer claiming there was a Natwest account in my name and that someone hacked it, which is ridiculous since I don’t even have an account with Natwest. Total nonsense!

My other half got a call earlier this evening from this number, pretending to be someone from NatWest’s fraud department. They were saying there’d been some dodgy transactions on her account, mentioning places like Liverpool and Guildford.

Got three calls from someone saying they were Tom Foster from NatWest. I hung up and decided to check with NatWest myself, and it turns out there wasn’t any problem on their end.
