Not long ago I got an email that seemed to be from Talk Talk saying I owed money and my service would be cut off if I didn't settle it. It looked pretty legit at first, but I had a quick look at my bank transactions and then rang Talk Talk themselves, and turns out my account was fine and paid in full. Definitely a scam, watch out for this one!

I got a call about some letter from TalkTalk, but it was a total scam. They had me on the phone for ages, like over an hour, and kept putting me on hold saying they were looking into an issue with TalkTalk. They even passed me around to four separate folks. I terminated my Talktalk services in May 2021 and recently received a refund letter in September 2021. As a result of this, I had already cancelled my Direct Debit. However, when I attempted to cancel my phone service as well, despite destroying the SIM card, they refused to do so. To my surprise, I received a final demand in March 2022 for a service I haven't actually used, accompanied by a threat of legal action. The letter seemed authentic with Talktalk's official logo and address. However, this particular phone number was not found on any other correspondence from Talktalk.

Somebody rang claiming to be from BT OpenReach, saying there was an issue with my phone line. But I hadn’t reported anything, and everything’s been working fine as far as I know. He asked if he could link a BT server to my laptop to run some checks. I thought that sounded risky, so I asked for his number to ring him back. He said he got why I was worried but insisted that was the only way to find the problem.

I received a phone call at 10:40am from the following number: 03451720029. The person on the other end identified himself as being of Asian origin and claimed to be from TalkTalk. He informed me that there was an issue with my direct debit payment and that it had not been processed yet. Surprisingly, he even knew the exact amount that I owed. Despite initially expressing understanding of the problems I've had with TalkTalk, he was unable to provide specifics regarding what he understood. He insisted that I make a payment immediately using my bank card over the phone. However, I explained that I no longer make payments over the phone. He then asked me to hold the line for a few minutes and instructed me to call back at the same number, 03451720029. Suspicious of the situation, I decided to research the number and soon discovered that it was associated with yet another scam.
