Got the exact same message as someone else here. I do have an account with Halifax, but after checking in with my local branch, they told me it definitely wasn’t from them. Total scam.

Just got a call with the exact same message as the one someone mentioned about 20 minutes earlier. I’m pretty sure Halifax doesn’t have my mobile number, so really glad I looked them up here before answering.

Got a text saying to ring a number about my Halifax account, something about needing to put money in or take some out to keep it active. They mentioned they sent me a letter too, but I never got one. Since I don’t actually have a Halifax account, I’m pretty sure it’s just some sort of phishing attempt.

Loads of calls nowadays from people just trying to steal your bank info. Pretty annoying!

Got a text on my phone saying I need to call a number or else my Halifax account will be blocked in about six weeks. After reading some of the comments here, I’m pretty sure it’s a scam. So yeah, I’m tagging it as Dangerous.

Got a call the other day from someone claiming to be Lloyds Bank. Right off the bat they called me by the wrong name, which was my first hint something was off. They went on to say my account was going to be closed, but never said which one or gave any proper details. That just didn’t sound right at all. Felt like a scam trying to trick me into giving info or panicking. Always be careful with calls like that!

I received a message claiming to be from Halifax, saying they'd already sent me a letter about my account and asking if I plan to keep using it past a certain date. The text said if I hadn’t replied, I’d have to call the number provided to carry on with transactions. After reading what others have said, it seems pretty clear to me that this is just a scam.

Got a message from this number meant for some 'Mrs Hanns', which was odd since a) I’m a bloke and b) I’ve never had a Halifax account in my life. Ended up deleting the text, but I looked it up here first just to be safe.

Got a letter back in Nov from this number, 0345 129 9791, about Mr Boguski and something about switching some accounts to paperless. If you want to stick with getting letters, they say ring them before 1 Feb. You can call direct, or use Relay UK or BSL SignVideo. The automated line is available all day every day, and it’s charged at local rates. Just a heads up in case it’s relevant!

I can assure you, this is definitely not a con. Financial institutions are required to check in with clients regarding accounts that have been inactive for some time, and these phone calls are a straightforward way to accomplish that. To ascertain the authenticity of the request, they provide multiple pieces of information-such as your name, address, phone number, and bank details-plus the fact that your account hasn’t seen any activity for quite a while. It’s quite rare for a scammer to have all of this information at once. However, if you feel uncertain, there’s no harm in simply disregarding the call. Your account will be flagged as dormant, and to reactivate it, you’ll just need to pop into a branch with your identification.

I got a letter that looked proper from Halifax about some old account I never use anymore. It included this number, maybe it’s from a company hired to get back some funds or something.

I received a rather peculiar letter from Lloyds Bank as well, and after doing a bit of digging online and seeing various comments, I nearly dismissed it as one of those dodgy scams. Honestly, I was moments away from binning it! Instead, I decided to pop into the bank with the letter, and to my surprise, I discovered that I actually had a substantial sum of money sitting in my account. Without hesitation, I withdrew it! If you're feeling uncertain about something similar, I'd highly recommend taking the letter over to your bank. Seriously, what's the worst that could happen?

Just got a call from someone claiming to be from Lloyd’s Bank, but it sounded dodgy. They asked loads of questions about my account, which seemed a bit off to me. Hello there! I recently found myself in quite the pickle after getting a similar letter. Curiosity got the better of me, and I called the automated line, diligently following the prompts to keep my account active. However, a nagging thought struck me - I'd carried out recent updates, albeit without any deposits or withdrawals. Naturally, I went on the hunt for information and stumbled upon some concerning insights in various posts. It left me a tad anxious, prompting an immediate visit to my nearest Halifax branch this morning. Fortunately, the staff explained that the letter was a part of their 'Account Dormancy Programme' - rather peculiar since I'd updated my interest rate not too long ago. They assured me they could confirm whether a letter had been sent out when they checked my account. What a relief! I was worried I’d made a terrible error. So, my advice to anyone in a similar situation is to always consult with your local branch if there’s any doubt. Cheers! 👍

I recently got a rather dubious missive from Halifax. The content was rather alarming, stating that my account would be suspended due to inactivity unless I reached out to this number, 0345 129 9789, by the 7th of November. Alarmingly, this number isn’t mentioned on their official website. I decided to call Halifax directly, and they couldn’t verify the number either. Consequently, I’ve regrettably taken the step to close my account for my own peace of mind.

I've received a rather dubious letter that appears to be from Halifax, complete with their letterhead. However, the contents are rather alarming. It mentions that my savings account is facing suspension due to inactivity-surely that's just nonsense for a savings account! They want me to call 0345 129 9789 to sort it out. Sounds a bit fishy, don’t you think?
