Got a call from 03451128876 saying it was BT and that my service would be disconnected within 24 hours. I ended the call straight away and then logged into my BT account online to check - everything was fine on my end. Decided to look up the number here and seems like it's a scam.

this aint no scam if you look it up youd find its a telesales line for bt based in sheffield. dont rely on caller id or caller display, lots of numbers get spoofed these days. if you need to contact bt properly they have loads of 0800 numbers for that. this one is a legit bt telesales number.

They didn’t leave any voicemail, so I didn’t bother returning the call. Having seen the other comments, I’ve decided to block this number now.

They said they were from BT in Sheffield offering a better broadband deal. They wanted me to give them 'security details'. When I asked for my BT account number, they said it was 'confidential'. I told them if they were really from BT and knew I was a customer, they’d have that info right there. Asked nicely once more and she still wouldn't give it. I just ended the call. Also got a couple of automated calls earlier claiming to be from Amazon Prime (definitely scams) which I picked up, so looks like they knew someone was home. Seems like a classic phishing attempt to me.

These days everything’s through VoIP, so voicemail boxes are pretty much useless now. Why expect everyone who calls to leave a message? It’s better to just pick up your phone and listen when it rings. If you’re getting loads of unwanted calls, you can always block them through your phone company. BT’s number for blocking is 0800 169 2962, but even that number is a bit of a pain.

Over the past couple of days, this number has just been one more out of seven different calls I've had - all from different numbers though. I've blocked them as they come in, and every single one was either a scam or phishing attempt.

He said he was from BT, but all legit calls from them usually show up as BT on my phone. He told me it was about some survey on calls I supposedly made to BT. I just hung up and blocked the number straight away.

Seems like some folks dont wanna bother checking the earlier comments from 21/12 and 13/11. The address from BT telesales has been shared loads of times already. They dont leave messages on answer machines. If you reckon all telesales are scams, just hang up and block 1572 - it’s simple! And if you actually need BT, just call the free 0800 numbers, there’s plenty available like 08001696199. Posting complaints here without reading is just pointless. The answer to this is already down below, so stop moaning on this site, it doesn’t help at all.

I get kinda wary when folks ring and don’t leave any message. Makes me think it’s probably a scam or some salesperson trying to push stuff. I’m never gonna call back if they don’t say what they want. Would be nice to actually know who’s calling and what they want first.

They said they were from BT and even used my maiden name, claiming they wanted to check if they could help me save some cash. When I asked them to take me off their calling list, the bloke just hung up on me.

This does seem to be linked to BT, we confirmed with them shortly after getting the call. That said, the caller was quite rude, constantly speaking over my wife. It kinda felt like a phishing attempt, since they didn’t have as much info as BT normally would and kept asking for details only BT should have. They were trying to push a new contract on us too.

From my point of view, anyone calling my private home number (which is unlisted) trying to push stuff I never asked for can’t be trusted at all - they’re just dangerous. These annoying scammers keep harassing me. Anyone on here defending that behaviour or denying it’s a scam clearly has something to gain and isn’t someone I’d trust. I’m working from home with a deadline looming and honestly, I don’t have the patience for these constant unwanted calls messing with my focus.

Yep, this is the company ringing you - BT’s outsourced telesales folks. They’re called Voice The Mount, based at Glossop Road Broomhill, Sheffield, South Yorkshire S10 2QA. You can reach them on 0114 321 0000. Usually, they phone from 0345 112 8876. I’ve seen this address shared loads of times. Occasionally, you might score a decent offer with them. But if you’re feeling doubtful, just hang up or block 1572 - it’s simple enough!

Its linked to BT and goes by the name 'Voice'. You cant ring back the number they use to call you (like most of these do) but you can get hold of them on 0114 321 0000. This number called me out of the blue claiming to be from BT, saying they wanted to set up a new broadband deal and asked me to verify my name and address. I didn’t give anything away and just ended the call. Later, I rang BT using the number on my bill to check if they were doing cold calls. The rep said they hadn’t contacted anyone since early 2019. So yeah, definitely a scam. Best to just ignore and hang up.

I received multiple calls while I was out and about last week, but I finally picked up yesterday (17th October). The bloke on the other end had a Northern English accent and spoke rather quickly, saying he was from BT in Sheffield. He mentioned he was following up on a technical issue I supposedly reported. To be honest, I was completely baffled as I hadn’t experienced any trouble nor had I contacted them at all. When I raised the possibility that my account could be compromised, he courteously wrapped up the call and promptly disconnected.

This was BT or someone working for them. They must have seen I was on their Broadband site since they had my IP or something, and since I used to be with BT, they already had my number and details. It was a sales call, but you’re not allowed to ring them to ask about “the best deal” - they have to ring you first! Nah, I’m not sharing any personal or bank info on the phone if I can’t make the call myself!

Some bloke said he was calling from BT, but I told him I’m not with them. Then he started saying he’d get me some special deals. I said no thanks, they sounded daft, and he got a bit nasty over the phone. Kept going on asking why over and over. I told him I was gonna tell him off properly and he just said ‘yeah yeah’. Received a call today from this number, claiming to be from BT, offering a more favourable deal. I mentioned which phone package I was on, and he simply said "oh, right," then hung up. He was quite courteous and not overly persuasive, but it got me pondering since my husband mentioned that such cold calls aren’t meant to happen anymore. He didn’t contact me on the landline-thank goodness for call blockers-but rang my mobile instead, which made me curious about how he obtained my number. So, I decided to investigate the number further and discovered there’s a chance it could be a scam.

Just got a call a moment ago from someone saying they were Kelsey at BT in Leeds. Total rubbish. She wanted to find out who my current provider is. I tried asking her about BT, mentioning I used to work there, but she wouldn’t answer. I told her I didn’t believe who she said she was and ended the call. After reading the comments here, I’m happy I didn’t waste time. Just hang up on these lot. They’re nothing but scammers.
