The only real rip-off is the smart meter - it doesn’t actually save you energy, just shows what you’re using so you can “budget” more easily. Knowing what I’m using isn’t gonna make me use less, I’m fine with my usage. Honestly, avoid getting a smart meter! But do ring them back and tell them you’re not interested and want to stop the calls.

Funny thing is, I’d just submitted my meter readings and sorted the bill online, so maybe their system spotted I don’t have a smart meter yet? I aint changing my meter unless the law makes me. SSE are pushing to shove one of those pointless "smart" meters on me. The meter I’ve got works just fine, cheers. Bring back some of the meter readers you let go!

0345 078 3248 kept phoning me loads ~ I started getting a bit worried. Bit cheeky if you ask me! I’m with SSE and seen something about smart meters. Don’t want one though. Is this how they deal with their customers? Cheers for all the comments - really helped - and thanks to the site too. :)

I got a call from SSE regarding a smart meter installation I'd asked for on the internet. Seems like folks these days jump to calling any phone call a scam or harassment way too quickly. This was definitely a genuine call from a real company, calling it dangerous just spreads unnecessary fear.

Got a call from someone saying they were from SSE wanting to fit a smart meter because they supposedly couldn’t get to the meter to read it. Absolute rubbish since the meter’s right there in the shared hallway. It definitely felt dodgy, like a scam to me. The call came from a foreign call centre, so I just blocked the number without a second thought.

Yesterday afternoon at half past 12, they rang me. Didn’t leave any voicemail. If they ring again, I’m gonna be ready with my referee’s whistle, for sure.

They've rung me a couple times over the past couple days. The first time I picked up, the call dropped right away. After reading the reviews, I just let it go to voicemail the second time and didn’t bother answering. Definitely looks like a scam to me. Best to just block it and not bother calling back.

Got a call from someone with an accent, said they wanted to come sort my white meter. When I asked who they were and how they managed to get my number (I’m ex-directory), they just hung up on me. Bit odd, really.

I’ve said no to the SSE smart meter loads of times. Still, they keep texting and emailing me non-stop - proper spam, all that stuff about connecting and whatnot. It’s driving me bonkers!

Got a call on my phone, they asked if Mr X was there. They claimed to be from Scottish Hydro, said they were my energy provider. I told them that's not right. Then the bloke tried SSE, I told him I'm not with them either. I said he could talk to me since this is my number. Then he just said he'll ring back later. So annoying!

I got a call from someone claiming to be from SSE. A bloke with an accent told me that my previous bill was just an estimate and suggested I’d save cash by getting a smart meter installed. I told him straight that my last reading was accurate and I wasn’t looking to change anything. That’s when I figured it was dodgy, so I just said I wasn’t interested and hung up.

I called SSE to double check and turns out the number is definitely theirs, it’s for the electricity meter.
