If you get a call from your bank, you should end the call once you know why they’re ringing and then ring them back on the number on the back of your card once the line’s free. Someone called me, so I called them straight back and it was one of those automated messages from Barclays. I applied for a customer service role that mentioned you should be caring and ready to assist folks going through tough times right now, so I'm thinking it's real. The phone numbers don’t match up exactly, but maybe thats because lots of people are working from home with social distancing and all that.

phone buzzed while I was in the loo so couldnt pick up quick enough. heard it's someone claiming to be from Barclays, sometimes it might be legit, other times not cos the number can be cloned, which matches the different feedback I've seen. probably best to let Barclays know about it.

Got a call from this number earlier today when I was at the hospital, so I chose to ignore it. Glad I did after seeing all the comments here. I looked up the number on my card and it’s nothing like this one at all.

Some woman said she was calling from Barclays in Milton Keynes, wanting to check up on me during this crisis. She then asked for my dob. I just said I was alright and didn’t give it. Not sure if it’s a scam or not, but I wouldn’t share personal stuff with strangers on the phone.

Got a call from someone claiming to be Barclays, checking if everything was alright with my account since the Newark branch had shut down. She said it was just a routine call, didn’t ask for any personal info and sounded really polite. Still felt a bit suspicious, so I decided to look them up online.

It's a total scam, don't get caught out. They use info from your phone to figure out where you live. They called saying they were from the Nantwich office, even though that place is shut and we've never done business with them anyway. They kept trying to get me to answer security questions. Pretty obvious it was an Indian call centre.

Got a call a moment ago from someone saying they were from the Chard Branch in Somerset. It sounded really legit and they didn’t ask for any personal info, just checked in to see if all was fine and gave me the branch opening hours. The lady spoke English and even though I’ve never had a call like this from them before, it felt quite trustworthy.

Someone said they were from Barclays in Crewe, but it’s not my usual branch. They wanted me to confirm the last 4 digits of my card, which I didn’t give. Then they said they could tell me my own postcode, but I said that’s easy info for anyone to find. I told them I was unsure since they weren’t my branch and said I’d verify with Barclays, but they claimed they were swamped with calls. Then they said the call was just to offer support during Covid-19. I thanked them and ended the call. After checking this site, I reckon it was a scam call.

The person on the phone used my last name and said they were from my nearby Barclays branch, asking if I required any assistance with my everyday banking and suggesting I call a certain 'customer services' 0345 number (which wasn't the number they called me from). Could be legit, but then again, my answerphone message does include my surname. Either way, if any Barclays folks are tuning in, maybe after you leave your number, you could just chill on the calls. ;O)

This number keeps ringing me but I just let it go to voicemail since I don’t recognise it; and they never leave a message. If it was really a bank trying to tell me there was an issue, they’d ask me to ring the branch myself. With online banking, I can check my accounts quickly and there’s never anything wrong. So for now I’m assuming it’s a scam unless I find out different.

Got a call from this number. The woman was really polite. When I asked what the call was for, she said it was about updates to their branches and opening times. Then she started asking for personal stuff, like my mum’s maiden name. No legit bank would ask for that on the phone, and it didn’t even make sense for the call’s purpose. Definitely seems like a scam. Watch out.

Some woman rang me saying she was from Barclays and wanted to check if all was fine with my bank stuff. I was really iffy about it, and when she started asking for personal details, I just said no.

Got a call from Barclays saying the local branch was closed due to Covid-19. Once the call ended, I double-checked its authenticity through the app and they said it was legit. They usually verify your date of birth and ask for some details like a couple of letters from your mum's maiden name, just to make sure they’re not talking about your account with someone else who might have answered or if you’ve switched numbers.

After reading the reviews about this number though, I'm starting to have doubts!

I didn't pick up, but banks never ask for security info like your mum's maiden name or bits of your postcode over the phone. I actually worked at Barclays once, so I know. If it’s some strange number calling, even if it looks like the bank’s official line, best to just ignore it and ring your bank directly to be safe.
