I usually just ignore calls from numbers I don't recognise, even if they come from a local dialling code. If it’s important, they’ll leave a voicemail or try another way to get in touch. Best to just block them and not ring back, because sometimes it’s a trick to make you pay for returning the call. Lately, I’ve noticed they’re even using 0800 numbers to hide their identity on our landlines, which for us are ex-directory. Really glad for websites like this and the option to blacklist these numbers through our phone companies. Definitely block and don’t engage!
