I got a call from someone saying they were with an energy provider, checking in after emails about installing a smart meter. I asked for the account holder's name to make sure it was legit. She gave me the company name plus email and phone details for a couple of contacts they’d previously dealt with. I told her those people don’t work here anymore and gave a different email instead, which she was fine with using. Unlike a lot of dodgy scams, she wasn’t really pushy about trying to ring someone else or persist annoyingly.

I got a call from this number and it was definitely SSE. They were pretty insistent about getting a smart meter set up, which annoyed me a bit. Pretty sure they only ring if you’re already signed up with SSE though. So yeah, the number’s real but expect a push for that smart meter.

Got loads of calls today from this number about fitting a smart meter. Finally answered and said I wasn’t interested. Then just ended the call. Blocked it now.
