I got this letter in the mail about a Hotpoint cooker cover plan I’ve never signed up for. I sent it back using the prepaid envelope they included, just to be safe. Really strange as I’ve never owned one!

This was a right scam. I received an email claiming to be from Curry's Care and Repair saying my Samsung TV care plan had been cancelled because of me. The email even had my name and the model number of the TV I bought last year, which I've got a care plan for. I got in touch with Curry's Care and Repair and told them about it, thinking it could be someone inside or their system might have been hacked.

It’s a dodgy scam, they gave me a number with just 7 digits, seems like some sort of mix-up or trick.

I actually called them up after they sent me a letter about my washing machine needing some attention. It’s for Currys care and repair and from my experience I can tell you it’s totally genuine. No way this is a scam.

I just wanted to mention that this number belongs to Currys, the tech store. I saw it on their site where they list their Care and Repair contact details (you can find it in the terms and conditions, part F). Also, they give you this number on the paperwork when you buy something from their shop. So, as far as I know right now, it’s a genuine number for calling about repairs, setting things up, or cancelling your policy with Currys.

I've been getting emails and calls from the same number over and over again, it's driving me mad!

Beware, this is definitely a scam. They message you about a laptop you don’t even have, trying to get you to extend the warranty. The calls cost as much as 65p a minute! They almost fooled me since my laptop is from Curry’s, but luckily I spotted it before getting ripped off.

Received a letter claiming to be from Currys about some service plan for a Samsung thing I don’t even own. I called the number back and some bloke with an Indian accent started asking for my name, address, and details of the plan. Wasn’t totally sure what was going on so I didn’t give them much info. Then, when I asked him to say something again, the call just cut off suddenly. Proper dodgy if you ask me.

People might think this is a scam, but it’s actually Curry’s number for questions about warranties. You call them to sort out stuff like extending or cancelling your plan. It’s legit, not a dodgy number.

This number belongs to Currys for renewing service plans. I got two letters and a reminder postcard all displaying this number - none of which seemed dodgy. The letters mentioned when my current plan ends, which is three years from when I bought my gadget. How would scammers be aware of that? I phoned the number after getting the card since I'd already renewed the plan online, and there was a voice message saying no action is needed if you've renewed. The call was about 40 seconds long, and they never asked for any payment details.

Got a letter today with the Currys logo and all that. They gave me this number to sort out 'insurance' payments that my bank's put on hold while they check out a possible fraud attempt on my account this month. The return address was Paragon Group UK Ltd, which is just a printing firm based in Sunderland. Their London office says "Temporarily Closed." I mean, a printing company could pretty easily fake letters and envelopes, to be honest.

Following up on my previous message that began with "I received a letter," I managed to reach the official customer service line for Currys. They mentioned it was rather common for folks to be sceptical due to the unusually low prices. Moreover, the criticism directed at their service from that obscure phone.com site didn't help matters. However, the representative assured me that the phone number I inquired about is indeed a legitimate Currys number and that the renewal 'cover' offer is authentic as well.

Last year, I received a letter from Currys informing me that my TV insurance had expired. They were enticing me with a new deal at just £9 a year, claiming it was a special offer for loyal customers. Given the significant hassle I'd already faced with Currys regarding a replacement for a faulty TV, I hoped this might be a genuine attempt to rectify things. Coupled with the fact that my family was dealing with some rather challenging circumstances at the time, I didn't give it the thorough inspection it warranted and ended up renewing. This year's letter gave me the opportunity to review it more carefully, which led me to research the phone number and discover this site. It’s a rather clever ruse if I do say so! Besides the appealingly low renewal fee, the paperwork was quite convincing.

Got a letter about laptop insurance that seemed dodgy, felt like someone on the inside was involved. The paper was rubbish and looked like a really bad photocopy. Luckily, I checked the number on this site and it saved me from a scam. Cheers for that! Got it last week.

Received a correspondence from "Currys" stating that my direct debit for the warranty failed and that I should call this number to arrange a new payment. Received a dodgy letter claiming to be from Currys Knowhow about setting up a direct debit. They want you to ring a number or send back a form in a freepost envelope. I already have Coverplan and know the legit contact is 0344 561 0000, address is Currys, PO Box 1687, Sheffield, S2 5YA. Don’t ring the number they gave or send anything back - it’s a scam to steal your bank info!

I didn’t get a call but received a letter saying my gas cooker cover plan payment was missed and to either call that number or arrange a direct debit. The weird thing is, my cooker from Currys is more than a decade old and the letter used my married name even though I wasn’t married when I got it. I rang my local Currys with the info and told them it actually needs fixing since it's so old, but they said it's a scam and they have no record of any plan.

I've received a dubious letter from Curry's Knowhow that appears to be a scam, urging me to "set up a direct debit" by either ringing their supposedly official number or sending back a form in the prepaid envelope. I'm already covered under their Coverplan, so I can confirm that their genuine contact number is 0344 561 0000 and they are located at Currys, PO Box 1687, Sheffield, S2 5YA. Please, steer clear of calling or sending back that form; it's just a clever ruse to obtain your banking information.

I never got a call, but out of nowhere I got an email telling me my laptop warranty was about to run out (even tho I’ve had the laptop for more than 2 years and had no idea it even had any warranty). I popped into the closest Currys, but they couldn’t find any record of a warranty. The email also gave me a customer ref number, but when I showed it to a staff member and the repair team, they couldn’t enter it because it had letters in it. This same number was supposed to be used when contacting them according to the email. Very confusing!

I received a letter from Curry's regarding what they claimed was a direct debit arrangement for some sort of payment. However, they stated that they were unable to process the latest payment, as they lacked the relevant bank details. They've asked us to complete and send back a new direct debit mandate, yet there’s absolutely no clarification about what precisely we're signing up for or even the cost involved. It’s baffling really, as nobody has been using direct debit for an item purchased last year. So it begs the question, why has it taken them this long to realise that they don’t possess any bank account information? Honestly, I would have anticipated receiving a brochure detailing the cover or warranty we’d be entering into, especially if this deal was genuine.

Just got a rather peculiar letter in the post, completely out of the blue, asking if I’d like to take out a warranty for a Lenovo laptop that I’ve never laid eyes on! It had my name and address all over it, which was a bit unsettling, to say the least. I can assure you, I’ve never purchased such a device!
