Got a call from a number I didn’t recognise, someone was asking me to donate something.

I’ve gotten messages a couple of times saying I’m giving £3 every fortnight, but I never agreed to it. It looks like a real charity though, so what’s going on here? Feels a bit dodgy.

I keep getting calls and texts from this 'line of duty' place. I never signed up for anything with them and have no idea how they got my number. It's really annoying!

Since I put up an ad on Gumtree and shared my number, I've had a couple of odd messages come through. They both said something like, "Hi Kyle, please reply YES to verify your number for [#]lod[###][###]. Helpline 03447451780." Thing is, my name isn't Kyle, I've never signed up or done anything on that site, and I ignored those texts. Now it makes more sense why when I ring Gumtree sellers, they often seem sceptical - it’s probably because they get flooded with scams and spam calls way before any real buyers get in touch.

I received this automated text urging me to reply to confirm my online registration. It's clearly a scam!

I got a call and a voicemail was left. Then a woman phoned me back and told me that I’ve been taken off from Line of Duty and that there are no charges linked to my phone.

I called and chatted with a lovely woman who helped me cancel the service straight away.

Got a text meant for a different person, so I called them up. They were quite chill about it and said it’s probably just someone with a number similar to mine who typed it incorrectly. They even took my number off their list without any fuss.

I ended up signing up to donate by mistake, but when I gave them a ring, they were super friendly and cancelled my subscription right away, no hassle at all.

I got a call from some unknown number too, have no clue who they were. Seemed really dodgy and honestly felt like harassment. Definitely not someone you wanna deal with.

After signing up on their website, I use my phone to give donations to Line of Duty. It seems legit, not a con. They've even got a Facebook page with giveaways for folks who send them money, which makes it feel more real.

Got this free message out of the blue: "Hi Adam, thanks for your interest. Please reply YES to verify your number for [#]lod[###][###]. Helpline 03447451780." Then, on that very day, I received a call from someone saying they were from the O2 upgrade team. Funny thing is, just the day before I’d listed some things on Gumtree. Odd timing, or what?

I got a text message just like everyone else seems to be getting. I looked them up online and found out it’s definitely a scam. Really don’t know how they ended up with my number and my name though!

Got a call from 03447451780, seemed like some Line of Duty scam or summat. It was on the same day I also got spam about 02 free SIMs and some Asthma UK nonsense. They won't stop ringing and draining my phone's battery. Tried blocking them but they just come back on different numbers, feels endless.

Got this text just now. I’m usually really careful about who my number gets signed up with, and I definitely haven’t registered with 70035. The message said something like ‘Hi Malcolm, reply YES to confirm your number after your recent online sign-up. Lod [###][###] Help 03447451780’. Seems dodgy to me, so I’m ignoring it.
